Yeah her name totally has the katakana for th in it right??

People can't even get over Eggman or Peach so I doubt the FF name rage wars in particular will ever be "solved" in any way.
There is no "th" kana. Her name is エアリス. Technically, either name could be correct, since the "su" sound can be the "s" in Aeris or the "th" in Aerith. Technically, her official name is Aerith now (see FFT PSP).

I tend to stay very far away from FF related discussions, but I think her name's been th since Advent Children and Dirge Of Cerberus (They used it in Kingdom Hearts as well, but that's a technicality). I will always use the s, as previously stated I saw it first as that in FF7, and it's the only one of the games/media I mentioned I give a damn about.

There is no "th" kana.

That was the (lame) joke I was going for, yes.

Both are legitimate romanizations but one is official. It's not hard to understand.

But then, FFVII's romanization was a clusterbomb at any rate. I mean, WTH, Square-Enix? Quit it with the prequels, sequels and midquels and give us a damn remake!

srsly, they'd be nuts to not do a 3DS or (presumably) PSP2 remake. i could see them not wanting to do PS3 just because they'd have to redo everything in HD, though.
