I'd say you succeeded. I don't really have the patience to play through an entire RPG anymore, but your writing makes me want to keep playing just to see what they say next. It's hilarious. Thanks, I'm glad you like it! :woot!: yes, if you ever think you could do another one without sacrificing quality, keep at it man.

The only spoof hack I liked was awful fantasy from somethingawful and it was pretty bad tho, no changes to the movement or where the plot went only sprites and text. I mostly liked it because the monsters and leveling were streamlined so it was pretty much entirely story and no real need to battle (Some monsters just plain died at the start of a battle.) and it had my kind of humor (I watch kungpow).

I've submitted FF5Spoof to this site... it said it'll be up in 24 to 48 hours. :-)

Someone (Googie, maybe?) recently submitted Super Castlevania 2 to the site and I have to recommend it highly. It's a hack of Simon's Quest and adds in various characters from various other NES serious, including Super Mario Bros, Zelda and Kid Icarus. There are no level edits (the hack is 10 years old) but the graphics are nice and the humor is really excellent. The attention to detail is excellent. It somehow manages to maintain the feel of the original even with Mario giving you mushrooms.

I don't think supercastlevania2 was recently submitted, it was up a couple years ago i think. But i recently changed it's classification as a spoof hack, rather than complete. Cause that is what i always thought it was.

Ah, maybe that was it. I'd never heard of it until I approved the submission. It's definitely a spoof, though, and a good one at that.

I'd really, really like to play this!... except it doesn't work. I'm gonna try a different rom- the c***r**.com one doesn't work with it... when I try, the first step (rpge trans) works fine!... but the second results in garbled text, followed by freeze.

LOL! As for why the patch would turn your ROM into garbage, it may have to do with whether your ROM has a header versus if it doesn't, or if you don't have a clean ROM. The ROM I used as a base was a verified good dump without a header.

Tzepish, I must applaud you for the hack - I once swore never to touch FF5 again, and your spoof changed that.
Oh, and if anybody's having problems, I managed to get the spoof patch working by applying it to Final Fantasy V (J) [T+Eng1.1_RPGe] from the GoodSNES set. No matter how much I messed with headers in NSRT, I could never get it to work with an out-of-the-box FF5 ROM and the RPGe IPS patch. Maybe I'm just not that great with patching. Wouldn't be the first time.
