Just a minor suggestion, hope you don't mind.

->

I hate abbreviations, but you can change Resist / Elusion back if you think they lose too much meaning (the latter is really pushing it. Maybe Repel / Nullify is nicer.)

Maybe MPResist / MPEvade, at least.

I'm starting to think all this renaming is starting to make the original lose more meaning than intended.

MPResist?...

If you need to shorten Magic, Mag or MG is sufficient.

Yeah, they're definitely a stretch. Hence the big comment on it. But you can apply the left-hand stuff and leave the right-hand side as it was before.

no, since you pushed the right hand column over one.

btw, how about that black column on the right? any chance of expanding the menu out and using that?

You really shouldn't since it'll get cut off on most TV's, but even the original game did that on the left side of the main menu.

You still have an empty column between the right end and the border.
Unless you think it's too close to the edge of the screen.

(I suppose they weren't worried about the left side because you still have 3 tiles of space before you start cutting off useful information (you already know their name Cheesy ) )

I was meaning with my changes, the longest strings on the right would still fit. But yes, it's a bit closer now.

As for the screen edges getting cut off, yeah, that's why I didn't push things farther.

The general rule of thumb I go by is to leave ~16 pixels on all four corners. Yes, there will be TVs that cut off more. But I've seen lots of games get right up to the 16px mark, and some TVs suck really badly ... I have one that loses 24-32 pixels on the left, for instance. No reason to account for the extreme edge cases like that. And besides, most people will be using emulators anyway.

And yeah, you could probably squeeze another tile out of the right. No need to stretch the window, really. Need more than 1 tile to do something useful with the two magic properties, though :/

byuu moved the right column to the right by two, and the left column left by one. this allows the expanded stat names in the left column. unfortunately, Mag.Def. will not fit this way, unless you want to have the period right in the number's face. (and might not even work, if the multiplier can have double digits.) additionally, Defense will get right into the number's face once it becomes double digits. to fix these issues, the numbers/multipliers in the right column can be moved to the right one, and the window stretched to the edge. the gap between the words and the right edge of the screen will be exactly the same as the gap between the words and the left edge... 16 px, i think?

Ah, sorry. I didn't realize those multipliers could grow beyond 9x. Yeah, that would hurt things.
Meh, static width is such a hassle sometimes :P

Kill the ellipses, then there will be enough real estate.

Or just move the numbers down a row.

Jeez. I can't even get a positive comment?  Lips sealed

But yeah, I was thinking about using the extra space for the stats on the left. Also, I checked, and I could probably fit "Magic Evasion" in on the right side without having to change anything.

And if I get the VWF working, I won't have to worry about space limitations. This was more to show off that I got "Level" in there, and that I threw the stats in some empty space left in the game.

Edit: Oh! I forgot about some of the squishy tiles I did. Those would work well for Spirit, Agility, Vitality, and Intelligence. =D

Missing a translator for the message files I took a break from Naruto Shippuuden Dairansen a while ago, but now started editing the graphics in need of translation... or rather, started putting together a font I'm planning to use for the graphical stuff in the menus and such:

A few letters were based off some random font I've got on my system (forgot which one XP), all the others - most of them not shown here, so far 19 lowercase and 10 uppercase - are being made from scratch, trying to keep some of the style of the original Japanese text.

(And, well, I'm still missing a translator, that sadly didn't change in the meantime -.-)

EDIT:

...same font, (which is btw complete now), just much thinner in cases.

That Shippuuden stuff looks nice. =D

Well, since everyone complained, I fixed up the status screen. This is quite possibly as good as it will get, pre-VWF:

I may take the squishy tiles out where they're not needed (leaving only "Intellect" with one). But the format is just about final.

Also, I overcame one of the bugs from expanding character classes. Now, character names show up in the item screen:

And yes, the "Dummy" items won't be in the final release (I've been using a savestate from j2e's FFIV patch I had laying around because I wanted something further in the game without having to spend hours playing through it).

I'm currently working on map locations ("Town of Baron", and such). I was able to throw them into expanded space, but I can't seem to find out how to get over the character limit. I need to expand the text box, but unlike most of the other ones, it doesn't store it in RAM beforehand (or at least, it doesn't seem like it). >.>
