I'd like to raise Blue Forest Story as a suggestion for a PSX title. It's kicking it really old school: the SNES was still alive when it came out. Holds a certain charm for me too. Also, isn't Gideon Zhi doing Soul Hackers? Perhaps the first Devil Summoner would be an okay alternative, although I hear the gameplay wasn't fantastic.

I voted for FM2 since I loved the first game. Alternatives would be Black Matrix and Summon Night for me. Such a vote could really use the possibility to give 2 or 3 votes \

He is, though I don't think he's had any progress on it in a long time.

Also, isn't Gideon Zhi doing Soul Hackers? There haven't been progresses in... 4 years? I guess that project is pretty much dead due to lack of interesting and asm hackers.

OK, I added Blue Forest Story, and per KaioShin's suggestion, everyone should now be able to enter two votes.
So, do we want to remove Soul Hackers from the list, or leave it for now?

So, do we want to remove Soul Hackers from the list, or leave it for now? Just because there is a dead project announced? If you say so, then we should even remove Khamrai (2 groups were working on it, but they seem to be dead), Echo Night 2 (secret project) and Growlanser (there is even an ad in help wanted) just because somebody is supposed to be working on them. I think leaving them in the list won't hurt anybody.

...Khamrai (2 groups were working on it, but they seem to be dead), ...
YnT is not dead, they are just slow as hell. Still I agree that the games won't hurt to be in the list.

By the way, in case anyone who's voted already isn't aware: You can hit the Remove Vote link to redo your voting (since you can now vote twice).

Also, isn't Gideon Zhi doing Soul Hackers? There haven't been progresses in... 4 years? I guess that project is pretty much dead due to lack of interesting and asm hackers. There was some issues coming from the title screen and character name limits...other than that I coded one VFS unpacker/repacker for the main VFS (PSXCD.IMG) and one for the event VFS (EVENT.BIN / EVE_MAIN.BIN). As far as my opinion on this, you should go for a PSX translation. There's more than enough work on most to need a team. Just check out ToP PSX. It would have helped a lot to have someone to ask advice from...especially on issues of organization because there's just loads of data that needs to be picked apart and rebuilt. There are documents to be made on VFS, graphics editing, locating/editing text routines, disc extraction/rebuilding, and -ESPECIALLY- patching and distribution methods. But as for another community project that IMO that could be worked out much more easily...why don't you make a romhacking wiki? Put all of the information and resources there that's possible in an organized manner, add new information that isn't available in docs (and is too short for a dedicated doc), etc. Something that will give direction to the newcomers, inexperienced, and stumped alike. Ragnainfo (RO news site / forum) recently made one and it has a top notch overview of RO, most of its mechanics, etc and it's only been up for less than three months. Just make sure it's trollproof. I think it'd be an awesome project to add a useful resource that nobody has done yet and can truly be a large community project that gets finished. Also, the benefit of a wiki is that it's a living document and can stay current. Rather than referring people to 8 year old documents that were good for their time, but the explanation was from the previous generation. Think of understanding Newton (especially an explanation of Calculus using a wordy, geometrical description) before many generations simplified his research into something more easily understood.

Nightcrawler's pretty much voted down a romhacking.net romhacking wiki, unfortunately.

Yeah, I posted about that when I first joined the site and he said something about how he didn't like wikis and how there were already one or two of them.

Then...community subproject A: Find webspace for a wiki? jk. That's really a shame though.

Don't make it sound like Nightcrawler is the only one who were against them, I'm for one don't want one too. The whole concept of wikis is flawed in my opinion, and our document database here serves the same purpose in most regards. The thing Klarth said about small tidbits of information has also been discussed before, that will be addressed too some time in the future.

I'm curious as to why you think the whole idea of a wiki is flawed. If it's too off-topic to post here, I'm interested to hear in a PM.
