Hi there!

First of all I want to say "Hello everybody" because it's my first post here. I have some experience in translating/hacking GBA/SNES/PSX roms. I never trying to hack NDS rom before. Basics I know well... But I want to do something harder than translate normal dialog in game. I searched all yours discussions about NDS ROM Hacking, meanwhile I doing some exercises with unpacking roms and learning .nds files.

Now I trying to translate fabulous game on DS: Dementium: The Ward, to my language of course  Smiley . I am doing it well, but I stopped... Reason? I cant translate one thing...

Actually I want to change (if someone unpack game that he knows which file i am talking about) load.NCGR file. If you played the game, that you noticed text in header "Select a File" when you choose a save game.

I want to change that text into: "Wybierz Plik" - that means in my language "Select a File"  Wink . Here's example:

I know that to see and edit files like: NCGR, I need CrystalTile 2.... Yeah but when I replace with my own screen [load.NCGR import to BMP/PNG -> Edit in Photoshop -> export to load.NCGR -> Save]
the texts overlaps:

And when I try to choose save game then:

I figure out that when I delete spr-load files, then text disappears.

So... how to edit files correctly to obtain my dreamed text?

P.S

Is there someone with correctly working program  - NFTR Editor (not version 1.4 because i cant change font - width - appears error...)

Are you sure you're editing the right graphic? Maybe the game has several slightly different copies of the same graphic and overlaps them (often done for glow or shadow effects). That could at least explain why you're edited graphic appears mixed with the original one.

OK... that "old" problem is solved now.  Roll Eyes
Now I want to translate chapters. For example:

See? Not lower but upper.... with text: CHAPTER ONE (I want to translate this too.. if it's possible  Wink)
The Admittance.

I'm not sure of this, but I think I saw video artifacts on the Chapter screen which may mean that those are FMV. Can be wrong though.

I believe that files would be usefull: chapter02.vx - chapter16.vx
Allright... but how to edit that kind of file? Is there any .vx editor (vx - is a video file?)

Check if there are more files with that extension.
