Hi! i'm considering a translation of this game, soon it'll be its 10th anniversary!, and this year is the 20th of the series,  and i needed some hints before starting.

i'm not 100% a noob to romhacking and translation, but i've never dealed with psx, only with roms. So i'm having problems in finding characters for creating a TBL file... any hints? also do i have to keep the same text lenght while translating or can i allow myself to expand it?

the game tree is composed of a LOT of small files in many folders.

any suggestion is welcome

You may not be 100% a noob, but you're close enough if you have to ask this question, because you clearly have never heard of pointers.

Anyway, are you talking about a retranslation? Because the game is already available in English (though I wouldn't be surprised if it genuinely needed one).

no to my mother language, italian.

concerning pointers, last time i started translating there was no documentation about them (i'm talking about more than 10 years ago Tongue)... i've read something about them now, but i have no clue if editing just a file in a disk can broke something like in roms or not...

in any case i would love a re-translation of it in english  Smiley tought what i'm most interested in is eien's RS2 translation

I've always wondered if the writing in this game was better in the Japanese version.  The English dialog was incredibly minimalist, typically with a few disjointed sentences accounting for an entire scene.  But it was a rushed game, so I imagine the Japanese version was just as rough around the edges.

Though it is still one of my all time favorites.  There's a briskness to the battle system keeps drawing me back (unlike Frontier 2 which had battles which were slower than molasses).

one of my very favorite games too Smiley great, GREAT battle system and freedomwhile playing  :thumbsup:
