I came across this tool I never knew I had until I tried all of the programs in this nifty set of tools It can really help the beginner understand hex and binary translations... http://www.mabsoft.com/Ok, What you wanna do is download nettools 5.0 after your done amongst all the cool tools you find theres a translator for hex and binary in Start---->System----> halfway down you will see ASCII<->Binary and ASCII<->Hex What you can do is type anything in and it will automatically translate it into hex or binary. And vice versa you can do the opposite. I thought It might help the beginner out there like me who is learning about translation....

If you're getting into hex editing, won't you already have, y'know, a hex editor?

The app is free, not Hex Workshop It's an extra app in the installation folder which doesn't need activation IIRC. cYa, Tauwasser

You're downloading an application package that is not free to keep a piece that didn't require activation. Is there any text from the creators that it's intended to be free? I think this is just a technicality that you can use the utility without registering. I wouldn't really call it 'free' in the sense of true free software.

Okay, let's say that the base converter is "usable", anyways, my guess is that everyone understood the meaning

Okay, let's say that the base converter is "usable", anyways, my guess is that everyone understood the meaning My point was this utility is being recommended as 'free', yet really it's kind of like recommending keeping shareware. Not totally on the up and up. I thought it was a misleading statement. I just wanted to clarify exactly what was being recommended, that's all. I thought it was an important item to clear up because those are things I, and I'm sure others, take into consideration when selecting our software.

You know, Im not one to be suggestive into what you use and what you should use as far as hex editors and translators... We all have different tastes, but as far as being anything free... One could get a app called Utorrent and go on sites such as Pirate Bay and get whatever app they wish in a full version.. Thats where I found HexWorkshop...... I dont even go to the official sites anymore... But you diden't hear any of this from me

Yeah, good for you. Hope you don't get any virii. Oh wait, sure he's smart enough to download an anti-virus program, that may or may not have had a virus hacked in.

I think we get the idea, and I do not see a reason for this thread to stay around. We do not need to know, nor want to know about how you pirate software. So I am locking this thread. As is the norm if anyone has a problem pm me.
Also Macs are not impervious, and if you feel the need to share software that is useful, then that is awesome, as long as it is legal.
