I want to play Super Mario Bros Mushroom Kingdom Chaos (http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/257/) on JNES but I don't know how to patch it correctly. Undecided\ Anybody know how? Step by step? Sorry I'm naive

Typically when people visit sites, they check its Frequently Asked Questions section before asking what is potentially a frequently asked question.

You must frequent a better class of sites than I ever have. Sad

We should have the FAQ link big, bold, and on top. :/

Anyhow, Ragemanchoo, try another emulator like FCEUX or Menafen (good). If that doesn't work, try getting another clean version of the rom and patch it again. Some NES games have different versions so may have to try a couple (I'm pretty sure SMB has plenty of versions... although it really, really shouldn't matter but I guess its worth to not discard the possibility). G'luck.

Thanks Smiley I couldn't find Menafen in the Utilities or Documents. FCEUX was there, but there are three versions. Which do I want?

Also, they're RAR files. Unsure how to open them.  Undecided\ I found FCE Ultra on another site. This is the same thing, right?

Sorry for all the questions. I've been playing JNES for a good while now and plus a few other system emulators but I didn't discover ROM hacks until a few days ago.

IZArc is a good, freeware archive program that supports most archive formats.
