Info on n64 homebrew/dev is sketchy at best...with good reasons I assume most of you probably already know, so I won't begin to detail...heck it was even hard for me to find SNES hacking/dev info...anyway my questions are thus:

*I believe I read on some random forum that is ONLY possible to run homebrew code on one of those disk systems, is this true? And if so why (security chips....checksums...idk)?

*I read somewhere there is an N64 SDK, or something similar floating around the web, is this true? (Not asking for a link or someone to send it to me...just wondering)

thaaaaaaanks for any and all help y'all can provide

You should contact kammedo from YnT about this, he is one of very few people who is knowledgable about this stuff AFAIK.

So, I've heard N64 games use checksums as copy-protection, and the checksum formulas depend on the security chip (of which there were several versions).
So, you'd need a real N64 cart with the same version of the lockout chip. Or at least that is what I've heard.

Mario, Zelda, and SSB all use CRC. CR is either the only, or the most popular method.
