Hey everyone

I have been trying to learn about rom hacking for a while, but I never seem to be able to find the answers to the question i've been asking.

For years what I have wanted to see was if you could combine all the wrestlers from the old LJN WWF Games on snes, and also take the ones from Sega Gen/Mega Drive games and combine it to the one game?

Each consoles version had a different roster to the other, from SNES WWF Wrestlemania, Royal Rumble and RAW. And Sega Gen Had the same titles but diff rosters, and Sega CD had an even bigger roster then all of those.

Can the sprites of a Sega game be converted for SNES hacking, and can the other versions be combined into one game?

Everything is possible. Will anyone do it? Propably not. It's not about importing graphics ... that's trivial. The problem is importing movelists and such stuff, and fitting all the content into limited space.

If I had to take a guess, I'd imagine the wrestler data may be compatible. Most likely between the Royal Rumbe and WWF RAW games and ports. They're so similar, and it was so easy for them to change rosters amongst versions, I'd bet my lunch the data format is similar if not the same.

To start a hack like this, you're going to have to start examining ROMs. Start figuring out where the wrestler data is, see if you can alter it, and start learning. It's likely to be a lengthy hack, but I would like to see somebody do it. I always wished for such a thing back in the day when the different versions were released.

i don't know if this will help, since it's a genesis hack, but you might look into the Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 Trilogy hack. they took umk3 and added every possible playable character and variation of each character, all complete with fatalities & specials in the expanded rom. needed it's own version of the emulator(gens) though.

Yeah I have the Genesis MK rom, but I think something like that would be way out of my league to do.
