Hi! My girlfriend has fallen in love with Itadaki Street for the PS2, but since she can't read Japanese, I have decided to take this on a side project to my other translation. I've been able to change some text in the game already such as the chance card descriptions, but have hit a bit of a wall. Luckily this game is able to use ASCII fonts as seen below, but the font widths are still messed up.

Now I'm not expecting some sort of magical fix on this, but rather some guidance to get me started. My other project was lucky enough to be using a standard NDS font file which had a built in width table(and a utility to easily modify it), so I didn't have to do any sort of extra hacking to get that working. In this game though, I probably won't be quite as lucky. The font seems to be a TIM2 file(there were a few TIM2 files containing the font in a directory called TEMP, though I don't believe these to be the actual ones loaded in-game). I don't currently have any experience with ASM but I'm very willing to learn(being a CS major, it would be nice to know anyways). Are there any good guides out there that you could recommend me to read on this subject? Any other little tidbits of information on the subject would be great as well. Thanks in advance!

I am currently learning the language and know enough to do basic translation, but I have a few friends who are native speakers and help me out with the translation aspect.

Well if you can get a fluent dedicated translator I might be interested in helping. I myself have 4 years Japanese study.
