Hi everyone. A while ago, I remember playing a hacked version of Megaman X3 (snes) that allowed you to play the game as Zero all the way. Now I know about the PAR code and what not. But this was different. I had to patch my rom with an .ips And the hack allowed for you to get items, powerups, and weapons like X could. I can't seem to find the ips patch anymore on google. I was wondering if maybe any of you knew what I'm talking about or know who did it etc. Any Help is gladly appreciated. PS: O yea just in case their's some misunderstanding, I'm asking for a patch not a rom.

No offense, but I have. The hacks you guys have are for other megaman games. I've checked this place before i made an account here, hence why I'm asking. But just to double check, I searched and nothing.

Agreed... PC Version a link to the patch can be found on this forum or in the romhacks section. Although it is probably relatively simple to create that kind of hack .

Simple how? Would I just have to replace X's sprite with Zero? Also, when I use tile layer pro and open the rom, the graphics are all sorts of funky colors and i can't tell what's what. Is that because the graphics are compressed? I would really like to try this out.

It's not a matter of changing the graphics. Then you'd just be playing as X while he looks like Zero (with all sorts of graphical abnormalities to boot).
I believe there's a bit somewhere that signifies whether you're playing as X or Zero. You'd have to default that byte to the "Zero" value, then change all the events that alter that byte back to the "X" value (such as before a boss). Also, if you're Zero and you die, you can't play as Zero anymore (AFAIK), so you'd have to change that as well.

I kind of figured a Zero hack for SNES MMX3 already existed.

There is a sprite that detects if Zero is active, and makes you switch back to X. Even if you have a hack that lets you Zero, none of the upgrades will be applied to him.

Yeah.
If you were to create a hack to by default start and always be zero (which I have tried once myself), you run into the problem of hitting the boss doors and other areas that make you switch back to X. Plus you cannot use weapon upgrades with zero. If you do try to trick it into letting zero use the weapons it is not very simple to do. The ram gets all messed up from my experiences and you would have to remap stuff when zero is used. Other than that issue zero functions just like X through all the automatic scenes and such.
Somewhere on youtube someone made a video of playing through with zero using RAM hacks in zsnes with the cheat search thing.
Also, I am not sure how upgrade capsules function with zero or the upgrades period, but I bet not well.
