Anyone have any experience hacking this SNES game? I can't view the graphics in any tile editors and I assume they are compressed. Anyone have any ideas how to view/ edit the graphics and text? Basically I want to insert the English logo and text into the Japanese game.

I've never even played Super Castlevania IV, let alone tried to hack it, so I won't be able to offer you any specific information.

I do know, however, that Super Castlevania IV was created by Konami and Konami has a reputation for creating code that's a complete pain in the ass to hack, quite often compression-ridden. Glancing at the game would suggest that it is, in fact, compressed.

I know absolutely nothing about assembly programming or compression hacking, so I can't offer any tips in that direction, but I after reading your response thusfar, I felt sorry for you and at least wanted to lend credence to your assumption that the graphics are compressed.

Well in those cases, I think the English versions are better (animated title screens). I may change the white death animation to red, if I can figure out how.

Oh and InVerse, thanks. I'll see what I can do.

Not yet, but this program was just released:

Super Castlevania IV Graphics Decompressor/

If someone could tell me how to use it, that would be great!

Read the readme that came with it, play around with it, get to know it.

I get this error when clicking on the button to browse for the rom:

"Unhandled exception has occorred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediatly.

Could not load file or assembly 'SNES, Version=0.1.2204.19603, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified."

Clicking continue and then trying to browse for the rom again just brings up the same error message.

I've tried using every "SCV4Codec.exe" file I've found in the zip (there are a few in different folders).
