Ok, I tried switching to japanese regional settings and I just get the same error but in japanese. I even tried using it on another computer, and I still get the same error!

Any ideas?  Shocked

If you're using 2000, XP, or Vista try turning on Windows 98 compatibility mode, that got it working for me on Vista.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it didn't work.  Embarrassed

I tried every possible combination of settings using the compatability wizard, but nothing worked.

I am using Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 2.

I really have an awesome hack in mind too, and finally the free time to do it... but this error! Gahhh!  Angry

Dan was working on Rock and Roll 2, not sure how much progress he's made or if it's anywhere near a release but if you're patient you can just wait for that. You could also try using visine in DOSBox, works well enough for me but I can't stand its keyboard driven interface anymore.

Yea, that's my problem too. Those interfaces really just slow me down too much. I'm glad to hear of any new editor for this game coming out though! I hope it has a nice windows interface.  Smiley

I wish I could get this thing started, as I won't have this nice free time forever!

Here's Kuwata's site: http://www.geocities.co.jp/Playtown-Bingo/2392/index.html

It says:

"※エディタが動かない人は以下の通りにしてください
「改造対象のロムをパス名を短いところへ置く(例えばCドライブ直下)」
それでも動かない場合は、エディタのフォルダそのものをパスの短いところへ配置してください
意味がわからない人は諦めるかリアル知人に聞くかネットで調べてください"

-or-

"If the editor won't run, please do the following.
Move the rom image to a location where the path is very short (such as right after C:).
If it still doesn't run, move the rock2-e folder to a location where the path is very short as well."

---
At first I was getting the error message with (12) in it, but I placed the rom image inside of rock2-e and moved it right inside C:, and now everything works correctly, so I hope that helps.

As soon as I moved it, it worked immediately. Thank you so much!  Cheesy

This fix should be noted next to the level editor when people download it! It would save a lot of people a lot of headaches!

You can easily add that bit to the description by using the edit button next to it Wink
