My FCE Ultra 0.98.28 or FCE Ultra X emulator works fine on my desktop. BUT, my desktop has no sound card. But here is the main problem, my laptop has sound card and my FCE Ultra 0.98.28 or FCE Ultra X emulator doesn't work on my laptop. Both have DirectX installed. Every time I open the ROM on FCE Ultra 0.98.28 on my laptop, it has an error message and automatically closes. I need to recored all .fcm to .avi with sound. Can you help me with the error problem.

It's really a stretch but the error message might help with identifying the problem  Roll Eyes

You could always buy a cheap soundcard off of ebay (or wherever) and put that in your desktop.  If that's not a viable option, then I'm assuming your desktop is of no use for this.

FCEU is crashing "with an error message" on your laptop.  What is the error message?

I have enough money to buy a sound card but I have to bring my harddrive to the shop. Anyway the error message says it is running in an illegial operation.

Virtual Audio Cable might be able to help you there.

I hope it's just the VAC in order to run FCE Ultra on my laptop. Otherwise I have to use VirtuaNES to record movies instead. And VirtuaNES works fine on my laptop but I'm not sure about the .VMV file is a valid movie file to upload on YouTube. And for some reason, AVI convert won't highlight on my VirtuaNES.

I already have existing movie files .fcm to convert to .avi but I don't want to do the whole movie run over.

Yes, Youtube accepts WMV.

Yes, Youtube accepts WMV.

He said VMV, the file format that VirtuaNES records in natively.

I have a couple of AVIs that I converted from VMVs. I don't recall what program I used, as it was a few years ago, but I can look into it if need be.

I'm not sure if it's the VAC that can make FCEU run when the ROM is opened. Sure it has to do with audio applications but FCEU works fine on my desktop without sound. I've still have no idea why my FCEU crash when the ROM is opened on my laptop.  Embarrassed

I wonder computer slowdowns has to do with it. When I play VirtuaNES, it plays kind of choppy movements.  I hope Nestopia doesn't do the same thing when I have Direct X 9 Installed into my laptop about Tonight. Although I haven't tried Nestopia with both desktop and laptops yet. I even tried my friends WinXP laptop and it work fine.

Anyway, at least one of my friends on YouTube will convert my existing .fcm file to .avi.

What version of Windows do you have on you desktop?  On your laptop?

Maybe it's just me. Alright, I was a little stupid sometimes but I got FCE Ultra X working on my laptop. That's good, and converted most of the .fcm files to .fm2 and some won't convert because savestates not supported. But it runs really slow than my VirtuaNES but I'm only using FCEU X to port. It will be a pain of an ass to record some .avi from .fm2 because it can take hours for complete recording.

Just to be honest, my laptop is crap. My laptop won't work but other faster computers was able to do a FCM converter. Even I use EasyCleaner, it is still slow. I haven't try other FCEU Emus like FCEU XD or even ABS, but I think the 0.98.28 is the only one with the troubleshoot.

I rather just buy a new laptop or just install a Sound card onto my desktop when ready. I guess I'm through with it for now.

It doesn't matter what version I use because they do work. For some reason, it's just my crappy laptop that's all. A new faster laptop is recommended.
