firstly.. hi. im pretty new to this hacking thing. started about 4 months ago and i dont sleep anymore because of it.  Anyway.. I'm starting off with a simple game to hack, CV III- which I already changed 75 % of the graphics and the level designs are flowing nice...  i actually changed the setting to my old ghetto town of shaolin island (staten island NYC)... skeletons and zombies are gone... replaced with crackheads, crackwhores, dopefiends and bad cops... fuckit, im giving away too much.

Anyway, what i'm getting at is, I'm a graphics guy with fucked up ideas.. anybody wanna get in on the ASM half /script writing and shit?  im envisioning this to be legendary but- i'm but a wee noob.

Oh, PS: i was initially gonna do this with cv 1,, but what the crap is going on with the graphics in that game? those graphics aren't so much scrambled as just all double vision looking and shit and i havent seen that on any other roms... any idea whats up with that?

You got a bad rom or emulator then for CV1.

hhh, i downloaded a few cv roms and they're all shit. i mean, sure i could hack the graphics but- ughhh it seems the programers coded each part of the characters in different colors, which correspond to a different position on the screen i.e., they'll be the inside of a head and the outside of a head, but they are overlapping different parts of the sprite- as in, there will be a red arm running through a white head... etc... if this sounds familiar to anyone.. do chime in.

Maybe it's similar to how Megaman's face is a different sprite than his body. That was to get around the NES' palette limitations.

You just have to align the graphics. Open it up with YY-CHR and press + until everything is lined up, I think you have to hit it 8 times.

The Dragon Warrior games did the same thing (overlapping) for enemy graphics.
Did you say which emulator it was?
