Hello!  Wink

Guys, i'm having some problems playing with Shadowrun. I'm interested in translating this game, but i can't find the whole game text. It seems to be very compressed... i managed to get this table, anyway:

Code:
20=
21=!
22="
23=#
24=$
25=%
26=&
28=(
29='
2A=*
2B=+
2C=,
2D=-
2E=.
30=0
31=1
32=2
33=3
34=4
35=5
36=6
37=7
38=8
39=9
3A=:
3B=;
3F=?
41=A
42=B
43=C
44=D
45=E
46=F
47=G
48=H
49=I
4A=J
4B=K
4C=L
4D=M
4E=N
4F=O
50=P
51=Q
52=R
53=S
54=T
55=U
56=V
57=W
58=X
59=Y
5A=Z
61=a
62=b
63=c
64=d
65=e
66=f
67=g
68=h
69=i
6A=j
6B=k
6C=l
6D=m
6E=n
6F=o
70=p
71=q
72=r
73=s
74=t
75=u
76=v
77=w
78=x
79=y
7A=z

I can't find too many graphics also, so, i think this ROM is a very big challenge. What i'm asking here is a little help from someone with knowledge over SNES text and graphics compression or someone experienced with this game in particular. Thanks in advance!  :thumbsup:

So what are you asking in particular? You have to be asking real questions... and elaborate on what you did. How did you manage to get that table? Did you find parts of text and can't make sense of it? Or do you expect someone to d/l the game, hack it and just tell you?

I know why you got that table. It's actual ASCII, which means whatever text is viewable I could theoratically view on HexEdit. Some Beam Software games use that... although with some type of compression.

The table was generated using Translhextion. I couldn't find the other texts in the game and couldn't even find something similar to the text, so, that's why i think it's a very good compression.

I'm asking for help on how to uncompress this text. Maybe someone already worked with this game or did some similar text uncompression in SNES translations. I'm not asking to someone do my job, i just need some directions since i'm completely lost on this one.

I suggest you work on Shadowrun CD. Someone already did some work on it.

I'm interested in the SNES version of Shadowrun since i'm a big fan of the game. I don't want something to translate, i want Shadowrun. lol.

Updating my post:

I found some technical information on Shadowrun's text and graphic compression on this old document made by Skeud:

http://traf.romhack.org/?page=GDLT/pages_html/skeud/03_comp

Here you can see Skeud's routine to compressing and decompressing texts:

http://www.finaltranslation.org/fichiers/shadorout.txt

I just don't have the intelligence and guts to understand and work with this information. This routine can be used in a software to decompress and decompress the data? I also tried using Lunar Compress to brute force (using sniff.exe) a way into finding some text, but no luck at all:

Hope anyone can help me with this.
