I remember that David Shadoff was working on this:

Supposedly the project was completed in French... but the English version was never completed.  Does anyone know if the English side of this project is now dead?  Or is there something else going on?

I'm still here, and it's still an open project... It's just that not much has happened recently.

Current status is:

Dead of the Brain 1:
I can get the full French text reinserted (for Dead of the Brain 1), but there still remains a bug in the modified print function which is preventing us from going further on either French testing or the English.

There is currently no English translation - I had an offer from somebody to translate from the French translation to English, but I think a direct translation from Japanese would be more appropriate, and my Japanese is slowly approaching the level where I might try to do it.  After the translation, I may be able to cross-check against the French (but I doubt I would use it as a crutch during translation).  Because of my time constraints, I probably shouldn't delude myself too much - another translator would be welcome.

Dead of the Brain 2:
I haven't received the French translation for DotB 2 yet either, nor has the actual translation into English begun on this episode.  This separate-game-on-the-same-disc uses the same print function (with some additional timing constraints), and the modified print function should be easy to replace here too, once the bug has been squashed.

Thank you very much for the update.  And an immense nod of respect for what you and your cohorts are attempting to do with these two games.  You have my personal support / empathy... not that that counts for much, but hey at least there are people out there who believe in your project (and haven't forgotten it)!

Well the print routine is done, so that's half the battle right there Wink

Now if I can summon up the nerve to track down that last bug...(the worst print routine that I've ever worked with).
