Hello there, this is my first post. I'm more than honoured to meet you!

After I watched your site I thought that my dreams might be able to come true:

I'm a space sim fan and have recently been able to secure a very rare PC game called homeplanet gold (It was due to be released in an english version (an english demo exists) however this version was cancelled. It was never released outside russia.

I recently was able to acquire a copy of homeplanet gold from russia, and I'm woundering if russian translators (if there are some here) might be able to eventually make an english subtitle patch? I know one of the creators of the game and that person supported me with my efforts and could possibly send me a few files containing english scripted parts.

Should you wish to see a preview: http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=2O7BLpyT9nk
The game engine also served to make a freeware fan project: the famous "babylon 5: I've found her!" game.

This would make a fan addition to the space sim genre.

Awaiting your replies.

regards.

mike.

P.S: a few links: http://www.gamershell.com/news_6821.html
and the version I bought (wasn't easy!): http://games.yakaboo.com/ru/catalog/all/-8271

Today, nearly all have forgotten this game, which is a shame! If it's translated, at least in english, it'll be remembered.

It's a worthy goal, people. Trust me.

I've never played this game, but there's also another Russian PC game called Pathologic. I've played the demo; great stuff, bad translation. I mean, bad. This sucker makes the original BoF2 translation look like freakin' FFXII.

Mind you, I don't know a lick of Russian, and most of the Cyrillic I know comes from Metal Gear Solid 3...so yeah, I'm not in any position to translate either game. Tongue

Here's the aforementioned demo, if anyone wants to give it a look:

Wow, looks great to see this level of interest in homeplanet! Smiley

I'll try to find a max of files possible.

So who in themselves might be interested to contribute? I should release some additional files soon.

Give me names and I'll provide you with the links to homeplanet gold.

Like I said, dump the script and I'll work on it, I just suck at the hacking side of things Sad

90% of my ability to read Cyrillic comes from Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. As for my ability to actually speak Russian...the less said, the better. ^_^; "Kholodyni smerti" is probably the most complex phrase I know (IIRC, it means "white death" - i.e. death by snow).

"Holodnaya smert" in singular (your example would be a plural, only it's more like "Holodnieh"), literally "Cold death". Mind you, I don't know the proper transliteration rules, that's just the closest pronunciation I could get with IBM's english voice synth  Cheesy

My shallow grasp of the English language disqualifies me as a translator, but if you ever need an advice from a native speaker -- feel free to PM.

OK then, the russian script is here (for homeplanet gold: that means for homeplanet and the playing with fire add-on).

the file is here: http://www.4shared.com/file/52269318/24838133/HP_online.html?dirPwdVerified=380ccc6c

I also have the draft of what might have become a subtitle patch for the game but it contains editing material which is not supposed to be distributed. I'll have to see if I'm allowed to send them over.

Should someone need the homeplanet gold link, PM me and I'll send them to you.

best regards.

I noticed 2 downloads: thank you very much to those who accepted to help  This game will finally be recognised thanks to you!

Might you possibly give us here a status on this project and possibly the difficulties (if any) you've encountered as time goes by?

If you can, a few screenies would be good too!

Best regards.

mike.

P.S: also, do tell if you need other files regarding the game or if the files do not work. but should there be a problem: keep me updated. I'll try to get the necessary documents.
