Suikogaiden has compression AND encryption. Couldn't even find the decompression routine so far. Won't be worked on for quite some time, at least by me.

There's a definite need for some Suikoden translations. Card Stories not so much, but Suikogaiden would be welcome. (So would a retranslation and bug fix of II...)

Also, slightly on-topic; the ESRB has rated Suikoden I for the PS3 Network and PSP.
Actually the PAL version of Suikoden II is (mostly) bug free, atleast the McDohl issue is solved. At times it hangs but other then that everything is peachy... Well, the translation is still what it is but whatever.

Yes it does hang, normally when you're 60 hours in or so, well thats what i've found.

I hope they give you decent boxart when they release it then, something along the lines of the European boxart and not like the US release. See below

Incidentally I'd have preferred 2 instead of 1, as it always felt like a late era SNES game instead of a fully fledged PS1 game.

Only time I've encountered freezes is during army battles and usually the next time you play it it's fine. Maybe you have a funky copy.

The bit where it hangs for me, is just before you get to fight Sierra, when  Nanami calls on you to get your team together.   It'll hang as you come out of the door, for a bit before going on as normal.  I haven't had any trouble in the Army battles.

The funny thing is,  I actually swapped a supposedly new copy of Vandal Hearts II for this, that was way more smacked up, than my copy of Suikoden 2.  That wouldn't even get past the intro and it was bought new.  They exchanged it at the shop and I got this instead.

I've actually been playing through the PSP ports of 1&2 (hey, the Suikogaiden games got mentioned here, so I'll assume this is a catch-all Suikoden topic now..) The american translations are NOT bad and do NOT require retranslation (which I remember was the #1 reason no one would touch the PSP ports.) They could maybe use a little cleaning up, but nothing major.

I'm currently playing Suikoden right now too and I'd say that yes, it REALLY needs a retranslation. Might not even have to be a retranslation, just a major rewrite of the script. Just really flesh it out. Cause there are alot of problems with it, it's chopped and have pacing problems and some things are downright atrocious. For example every time someone calls Mathiu a "surgeon" I cringe... But yeah, a script rewrite by someone that's familiar with the Suikoden world and its continuity and characters... Like for example me. Not saying it should be me but I'd love to do it. Anyone up for a Suikoden script rewrite project? Cheesy

I'm the script extractor on that project.  It's proving...difficult.

Niahak sent me more of chapter 4's translation, and I've posted it on the site! Feel free to take a look, it's pretty cute. Well, if you're a Nina fan. XD

Don't bump an eight month old topic just to find out if there's been any progress or not.
