I've been looking around for sonic ROM of sonic the hedgehog 2 and/or 3 but I only found ones that are .bin files and tlp won't open those. So I wanted to know if anyone knew a site that had those game as a file type trhat TLP could open.

Sorry if this is the wrong section I just really want those and I did look through all the sites in that "where to get ROMs" thread

Just change the file extension. Or better still, use Tile Molester instead.

I open .bin files in TLP all the time with no issue >_>. Unless he means that it just won't default to the correct bitdepth and format. TLP doesn't care what kind of file you throw at it, usually. (.smc files are another story)

Tile Layer Pro is strange, for some reason it doesn't detect .bin files. Change the drop down box from "All supported types" to "All Files". Then after it's opened go to: View -> Format -> Genesis

Of course, like it's been said before you may want to just use Tile Molester, it has many more options and is better.

>_>

Maybe I just assumed that people knew that you could type "*" and hit enter in the file open dialog to view any sort of file. If that's too much hassle then yeah, use some other program.

That's because .bin is a generic extension that refers to multiple file types, even within console ROM files. (For instance, Atari 2600 ROMs also generally use a .bin extension.)
