Hi,

I would like to discuss about the Game Genie codes (for the NES version of Super Mario Brothers) which give you mostly or totally no music.

The codes are:
GGAOAP (value 0x44 at address 0x9108) - Usually no music (there is music for the flagpole, Starman, the saving of the Toads/Princess Toadstool at the end of the castles, and in the scene movement and Sky Bonus areas)
PGOPGO (value 0x49 at address 0x9114) - No music (except on a flagpole and when you collect Starman and save the Toads and Princess Toadstool)

What I would like to know is what code or codes will take out all the music (incl. the flagpole, Starman collect, and the Toads/Princess Toadstool end-of-castle save) but still have the sound effects?

KOTAGE (value 0x9C at address $80E4) means no sound whatsoever.

Thank you,

Ben (SMB2J-2Q)

Not sure about Game Genie, but replacing the values from $791D-794D (header included) with $4B will wipe out all Area and Event music.

How's the Vangelis thing coming out?

And where in the game's memory banks do I find the values between $791D and $794D? What emulator do I use to find the $791D-$794D with headers?
