Hi my name is Jason. I really wanted to start a hack but I lack of knowledge. So... my question is: "Should I start learning HEX or start with Editors and what would be a nice game to start with?".
Thanks in advance, Cheers ZereoX

That's the equivalent of telling someone to go to the Bunny Ranch to learn how to masturbate.

I may go for the first one (learning programming at a college), but I will not be attending college for 3 more years.
I should be a translator =p

AH HA HA HA!
In other news.
Go with hex. Though, my brother swears it makes editors hard to handle. But then, I did editors first, and I can't get the hang of Hexing.

Hey I'd go with learning Hex to start with and find out how Hex, Decimal and Binary relate. Hex Workshop is a good hex editor but costly HxD is a good free alternative. Then read through some of the guides in the document section on this site starting with FAQs and then Save State Hacking since it is quite easy and a good place to start. Follow it up by Translation Hacking and that should give you a good start

Thanks Ryan, is it O.K to find stuff by just changing something and see what is does in-game?

I think it's the only way that doesn't involve reading what other people wrote.

Yeah that's how I learnt quite a bit of stuff although. I think the technical term is 'corruption' but I'll soon be set on fire if I'm wrong. You'll find that method tends to be very game specific so although changing certain data in a certain space in one game has a certain effect changing the data in the same space in another game will have a different effect. If you are going to do this you still need to know about Hex and get a good hex editor since it is what allows you to change the data in games. Also remember to make back-ups of the files your messing with
