Yep, still working on those Momotaro RPGs. Must be something worthwhile if Hudson kept remaking them?
Well, looking at the PS1 version (which seems to be a remake of Momotaro Densetsu 2), I've managed to find the script in an epsxe savestate (which involved using PCSX Tracer and pSX to find). Luckily, it's uncompressed in the ISO.
The bad, I still have to find the font in a savestate. So, I tried TIMMay. Looks like this game doesn't use TIM formats. I did determine (with a pSX VRAM dump and PSX VRAM Viewer) that it stores the graphics as 2 bytes per pixel. However, I couldn't find the same data in the savestate.
Don't suppose there's any other tile viewers or such I should try?
Otherwise, guess it's back to trace logs?
(nope, using PSX VRAM with RAM ripped out of an uncompressed epsxe savestate does not produce visible graphics. Probably some form of compression.
I did get one TMD file, but from what I understand, those are 3D models, so it probably wouldn't help for a 2D game. I can't view it, but I'm guessing it's just the PS license screen logo?)
(I'm also going to try looking at Shin Momoden for SNES while I'm at it. Font storage looks weird, but I can probably manage. Would anybody be interested if I manage to wrestle a script out of it?)
