This is a hack which aims to make the Batman for NES game much easier and beatable then it originally was. I found the original to be very fun, yet difficult to beat. With this hack it's much more possible to beat the game in one set of lives.

I edited most of the levels (including boss levels) to make them easier and have some alternate shortcuts to them rather than having to always progress through the levels on a set path. I also removed several traps and added platforms to help avoid them. Enemy health has also been adjusted to make them easier to defeat. Some bosses it is more noticable, especially the final 2 bosses where I felt the battles were too difficult. Joker takes only a few hits to defeat, as he does in the movie. I also increased the amount of weapon ammo you get from powerups and also the health given by health powerups.

Batmans in-game pallette was changed to grey to more closely mirror his outfit in the movie. I also opened up a few walls which lead to unused rooms. This don't really make the game easier, but I did it to satsify my own curious interests.

I made this hack with that new batdance utility.

I don't have time to more thoroughly examine the hack, which is something I make a point to do before approving submissions, but the first thing I noticed is that the patch linked to in your submission (presumably the same one linked in this post) doesn't include the gray Batman, he's still purple. Did you upload the correct patch?

Wouldn't the color bleed in too easily with the already predominantly black backgrounds?

I figure under the right lighting conditions his suit could look other colors. But I think it being a constant purple was too off. Plus if I changed the title screen color I'd have to change it in all the other cutscenes, and that could alter other objects pallettes too.

*loads up the original on emulator real quick* my tv screen must have sucked, he actually is blue

also found a bug in the hack, stage 2-3. not that big a deal since it happens from going the wrong way, but it will mess up a life it it occurs. right after the first flame thrower guy, going up all the way, trying to go into the open area at the very top. batman gets glitchy for a sec, and then the stage starts acting strangely, and you can't do anything about it, until you hit an invisible set of gears that kills you off.
