 GrinHello Everyone!!! Tongue

I'm A.J. Foucault and I've been in the Emulation word since 2001, and in the videogames word since 1994 (when I got my first NES).

Anyway, I don't think you care about that xD, so let me go straight to the point of this post.

I've been having a trouble for ages, and I hope you'll be able to help me =P.

The thing is that everytime I apply an ips patch to a SNES game (by zipping it with the rom, or by using LunarIPS) it says that the thing is corrupt and it doesn't open. I think it is a virus in my computer or something like that.

However, IF I use a pre-patched rom from the internet, it works just fine :S
And as a matter of fact, I have a CD with my first set of roms and in one of them I have Bahamut Lagoon zipped with the patch (I did that in an old computer that I had) and it works just fine.

So, any advice?
Thank You Very Much for you useful help and information!!!

P.S. By the way, right now my OS is Windows Vista, but that's unimportant, because even with my old computer which had XP I had the same problem...

or if you soft patch stuff like with zsnes it works too eh? I know, I have rarely been able to get hard patching to work, especially when I am patching multiple patches to a rom. (such as translation and bugfixes)

Are you sure that your ROM is in the correct format, including existence of a header if necessary? Most readme files will specify this information. I don't see how it could possibly be a virus, unless someone specifically wrote a virus to corrupt your translated ROMs and only installed it on your system. I hard patch exclusively, and the only problems I ever have are when the ROM isn't in the correct format.

For testing purposes (to see whether it was really my PC or what) I decided to use a GoodSNES set (original rom with the name like "Tales of Phantasia [!].smc")
After that I got two different patches utilities "LunarIPS" and "IPSXP" and I used these patches
 Ã› ³ Topfinal.txt - This file                                             Â³ Û
 Ã› ³ Top_gd7u.ips - Patch for interleaved rom (upper case 8x8 font)       Â³ Û
 Ã› ³ Top_dx2u.ips - Patch for non-interleaved rom (upper case 8x8 font)   Â³ Û
 Ã› ³ Top_gd7l.ips - Patch for interleaved rom (lower case 8x8 font)       Â³ Û
 Ã› ³ Top_dx2l.ips - Patch for non-interleaved rom (lower case 8x8 font)   Â³ Û

I did 4 copues of the CLEAN ROM,and I patched each one of them with a different file (one for each one).

After all that testing
I can safely assure you that it's not whether it has a header or not.

Any other recommendations?

Did you try adding / removing the header? (e.g. with NSRT) Your post wasn't clear about that.

Note that this is not the same as de-/interleaving. You should always keep your ROMs deinterleaved (see NSRT dor that as well).
