Here's a little lesson for you: never assume there's a magic bullet that does what you want.

Apart from common things like extracting and inserting scripts and editing graphics, most ROMhacking is done the old-fashioned way, which involves lots of tedious ASM tracing and a good grasp of how game console hardware functions. Sometimes you get lucky and somebody puts in the time and effort to create something like Lunar Magic. Most of the time, though, it's a long, hard slog and lots and lots of detective work.

But look on the bright side: if you do the work, write up a program and release it to the public, people will remember you as the guy who made the world's best Pokemon editing tool. ^_^

@Ryusui: i know that most of the time there isnt a 'magic bullet' but its good to ask, just to see if there IS, and with popular franchises like Pokemon, Mario etc, there is usually something....
