Did you try a dictionary?

This is very basic stuff.

I mean, if you need some help with this, you're going to have a hard time with the rest of the translation.

There's quite a few dictionaries out there. I can suggest you some if you want to.

You're not restricted by a border around the menu, so you're better off figuring out a way to make it use four tiles instead of just three.  It'll look a whole lot nicer.

Try this one. It's free and VERY useful.

Here's an example:

ASM knowledge a plus for that one. I prefer dictionary compression, but there are other ways.

Hehe. I remember doing a dictionary compression routine for this
game a LOOOONNNGGG time ago. I foget who it was for though.
I may still have the out dated code, or maybe not...

For this game or in general?  For some games, you can change a three letter menu item into a four letter menu item just with the knowledge of pointers.  I haven't checked out this game in particular, so maybe you do need ASM for it. (and dictionary compression would be helpful for the rest of the game's script, no doubt, so maybe he's better off figuring that out now...)

Cheesy What in a hell is a "dictionary compression"?  Lips sealed  :banghead:

OK, The Progress:

I've done with the main menu!!!  Shocked Cheesy

Pointers are pointing only to the begining of text blocks <$>

I've sacrificed a little battle menu (it comes after) but i can fix it by moving the BUY and SELL a little, cause there's empty space.  :police:

And Thanks for the dictionary!!!

Aren't you missing a few "g" there:

"Dictionary" is a compression technique that can be added to the game with ASM knowledge.
It allows you to enter long/commonly used words and use only a couple bytes each time.

Heh, if you were able to do that years ago then it would probably be pretty easy to do it now.
