How do I hacked roms?  Cheesy

It is pretty good indeed but does no-one think that ROM Hacking is a highly social activity aswell? Sure a lot of learning is done by yourself but there is an equally large amount done by reading guides from other people, discussing confusing or hard aspects on the forum and participating in group projects and helping others. Also think of the finished product, how many people keep a translated ROM or a 'NEW' game to themselves? Most people get it hosted someone to share it with everyone.

I'd agree with a lot of the above but it is important to remember the social aspects as well.

Depends on the person and when they're learning, I'd say. Right now, yeah, the social aspect of romhacking isn't exactly a small part of the learning process, but three or four years ago? There was nothing like RHDN to provide this. Sure, there was Romhacking.com's forum (and Romhacking.org's board before it), but for whatever reason it never attracted as many people to it that RHDN has been able to.

It's the .net, it makes people hot.

seriously though I think there will always be solo aspects to it, it's the nature of the beast, but then there is the fact that the information you are getting usually trickles down from someone else, at least when you are learning something new and not making something new with something you are familiar with, but then again I guess that could be said of most all learning. I guess where I meant to go with that is that certainly it can help to talk to the person that wrote the article or whatever you are studying, but of course most of the learning is done alone.

I think I just said nothing new *sigh* oh well.

I've been poking around an idea for something I want to write, but it would stir up enough drama from the past ten years to be a problem.

Hint: It involves fucking like tigers.

Isn't Cless already working on fixing that? Or do you have the SNES version in particular in mind?

This was a pretty good read.  It warmed me up on a cold winter's night and reminded me of my own experiences reverse-engineering SMB.  If anyone ever tells me my job was easy, I'll be sure to lambast the hell out of them for it.

Most things are true here. Self I am not much of a ROM hacker. I am more designer, And using a level editor is a good and easy way for me to design my levels.
ROM hacking is some thing that is hard to start off with from square one. That is why there are not to many. Trust me I did try and read up on those guides. But I had no clue and could not figure out assembly, So I leave the ROM hacking to people who know and designing to my self.

In case I would want to do a lot off things it would be easier for me to program a game from scratch, That way I could if I wanted to, sell it. That's just my opinion though.

it's better to learn in pieces than all at once. Learn the basics, then make something with that knowledge, then once you have spent forever problem solving to get that once project to work, then you can take on the next bit of information. It's hard to learn everything at once with no practical hands on.

not trying to attack you or anything, you're right, if that's not your thing and you just wanted to adjust some levels in game x then there isn't any reason why you should HAVE to, but it's just some advise. You're right though, like a lot of things it's hard getting started.
