This is a hack I put together real quick cause I was bored with the same old Double Dragon. This replaces Billy with Jimmy. I changed the opening and ending Marian sprite to Billy, so rather than Jimmy going to save Marian, he's saving his brother. I only altered Jimmy and Marian sprites so ignore the other graphic and pallette changes you see, those are from the Double Dragon NES arcade mix hack that is found on this site also.

Before submitting it to this site I'm gonna make a few more small alterations. Mostly to change Jimmy in the ending to Jeff cause battling Jimmy as Jimmy makes no sense. Also I'll change the pallettes in the versus mode to Jimmy and Jeff. In case people don't know, Jeff is a character in the arcade game that is a pallette swap of Billy and Jimmy.

I remember a hack of Double Dragon that had a few River City Ransom sprites in it, if anything try to make the enemies a bit stronger through a hex editor or sumthin.

I've never really had an issue with the first games difficulty. I think it's spot on. But I did always wish to have Jimmy at my disposal. I couldn't make a 2player hack, so this is the next best thing. I finished the hack and submitted it to the site. Hopefully I changed enough so that it will get approved. These are the updated screenshots and download link.

You got to rescue billy this time, rather than Marian.

Jimmy in action.

Jimmy in the vs screen.

Jimmy vs Jeff in vs mode.

A'ight bet, I'll give this a shot right now. I was thinking of adding the RCR sprites to make my own DD hack, gotta look into it. Smiley

I was playing around with the game some the other day. I was able to edit all the enemies health. I increased it so that the regular enemies take 3 knockdowns to kill rather than 2. It seemed to really increase the gameplay time, especially since I can beat this game almost all the time without dying. I was trying to mess around with other things, but probably need to read more tutorials on how to do things.

Does 3 knockdowns seem enough? I could go for a superhard patch besides a 3 knockdown patch. I'll probably throw in a easy difficulty patch for the heck of it. The problem with a superhard patch would be the time limit in the final battle. Cause as is you could already run out of time there. I wasn't able to edit time limits yet.

I also looked into Renegade. I was thinking of turning it into a Double Dragon game. I successfully got the Double Dragon logo onscreen and then when I went into the first level the graphics were corrupted. It seems if you even add one pixel to the title screen it screws up the first levels graphics. Too bad too, it is one of the most Double Dragon like games I played.

How about selectable difficulty?

That would be ideal, if I had the knowledge to do that. But I will have to stick with patches for now.

You never advance unless you challenge yourself.  Wink

You never what you are capable of until you try. Wink

You never advance unless you challenge yourself.... in bed

You never what you are capable of until you try.... in bed

felt like appending the obligatory "in bed" suffix to fortunes.
