I stumbled upong some DQ games for the x68000 I didn't know existed...

Dragon Quest 4 (19xx)(-)[p].dim
Dragon Quest v1.07 (1992)(Mitsuru Kamiyama).dim
T-Dragon Quest Joshou (1991)(TNB Saisakusho).dim
T-Dragon Quest Mazoku No Daichi (1995)(TNB Saisakusho).dim

The first two are pretty much the NES games with a little different intros. The bottom two look like fan games but they are really great. They look similar to the NES games but with better colors and graphics.

The question I wanted to ask was if the DQ4 game was entirely re-programmed or emulated on this PC somehow. How similar is the x68000 processor to the 6502? Could these bottom two games be converted to NES games? I don't really know much about this system.

99.9% chance it's ported. Even though the x6800 was badass for its era (Check out the nearly arcade perfect port of Ghouls 'N Ghosts, for example), it simply doesn't have enough horsepower to emulate the NES. Hell, a 486, which was a vastly faster CPU, struggled with NES emulation.

I used to have a book that described both (And the 8088), and they're very different beasts.

Btw., someone (guest?) posted a tracer for an emulator (Win68K) on Gideon's board.

Yeah I have it. These DQ remakes are pretty awesome in and of themselves. I'm going to try to do a translation of them...

EDIT:

Some screenshots for "T-Dragon Quest"...

EDIT: True NC, but how else would I get my post count up? Hah!
Let's see if infoseek works...

1. It wasn't necessary to double post that.
2. Your inline image links are broken anyway due to anti leeching employed on geocities.
