I just found a translation of Animal Forest (prequel to Animal Crossing) by Lysol Pionex (maybe a team project?).   It's very early, but it does have menus and many items done, possible other things too. Here's the link to the message board where updates are posted to: http://www.emutalk.net/showthread.php?t=14426
Here's the actual ips file: http://www.geocities.com/sasy_com/IPS.zip

Doesn't it crash-- hard-- in emulators, still?

It actually runs okay in Project64.  There are some glitches though, such as a delay when pressing start and there's also a weird block covering up 1/4 of the menu screen.  In case you're wondering, some of the things that are not in this game are the NES games, island, e-reader support (of course) and the tailor shop.  It does have some pretty neat Japanese exclusive items though.

I actually own the N64 cart(without included controller pak, and almost put it on ebay a while back, but couldn't for sentimental reasons.  Plus it's pretty rare nowadays.

What do you mean no NES games? Last time I checked, you could get Famicom games on the N64 version... Is that what you mean? That you get Famicom games and not NES games?

I thought the N64 version has them, but none of the existing emulators will run those NES games correctly.

The game is buggier than heck on PJ64, that's what I know. And it didn't store the date in its save... At least it kept asking me for the time and date. D:

Just a guess... unemulated clock hardware in the cartridge?

Hmmm, that could be a the problem, in which case it wouldn't be the game's fault. DX I only tried out the emulated version, so what happens on a real N64 is lost to me...
