HIya as you may know I'm REALLY new to this stuff and am not too good at much yet but I've been able to hack some graphics on Mario Kart! It's a wicked game and wanted to make some quirky changes to it, nothing big at all mind as I'm pretty useless at the moment. But I've had some success in modifying some of the characters and adding the following attributes:

Mario- White fluffy Dove Ears on Hat, Yellow/Golden Cloak
Peach - Enlarged Crown, nifty black shades, longer hair, pink & black wheels (maybe a P crest)
Donkey Kong - Tuft of hair, altered frown line and lips and I've also stripped him so he has no white top on and he looks better. And I've also had the idea of editing both Toad & Koopa Troopa to different characters these are the characters I've had in mind what ones would be cool:

Diddy Kong
Dixie Kong
Samus
Ness (Earthbound)
Bowser Jr
King Boo
Petee Pirahna
Toadette
Link
Zelda
Kirbella (original female Kirby equivalent)
Birdo
Wario
Walugi
Pikachu
Baby Mario & Lugi
Koopalings - Wendy, Ludwig etc

There's loads more anyway I was thinking of just making a patch called 'Character ACCESSORISE' which would just add all the new gear on the characters no new characters yet (that'll be a while), just a practice thing coz I'm new ans I think it'd be cool!  anyway the new character Ideas maybe later but who would be best, remember you can pick two or tell me more... Thanks If I ever finish adding all this stuff I'll also edit levels and other things once I get more knowledge and help etc!

Yeah I didn't want Kirby on there I want it to be atleast a BIT original! I've been using different things I've been using Tile Layer Pro for most of it. The thing is though when it comes to editing title screens and what have you I'm clueless because with this ROM the character graphics are easily recognisable amongst the scramble but nothing else but with most other games and I can hardly make out anything so how on earth can I edit it??? I must have to do it using HEX (in the beginning stages of learning *bites nails* And another thing that's a bit annoying is that colours I use on the editor don't come out as I expect them so I've got to work out how it's going to come out on the emulator! \

And yeah I've got Mario Kart R it's cool! And what character do you like most on the above list by the way...?

This idea will have to be stalled because I'm trying to obtain graphics data for Diddy & Donkey Kong from Donkey Kong Country to insert into Mario Kart but I have no idea on how to find the graphics for them in the ROM using TLP. I've read loads of stuff even used VSNES but am not fully understanding it. When I open a savestate in TLP does it uncompress the data so that it will be easier to see, if so why is it not working!? I think I'm one of those hopeless cases, I think I'm just gonna give up and go back to just playing the games!

EDIT- X1 I've decided to carry on...anyway I'm trying to upload a pic but nothing works anyway I'll try photobucket on the pic you see it's proper scrappy on some charaters that's because I'm working my way through them anyway I've changed Peach to Daisy by giving her brown her, dark shades and I've also made her wheels pink none of the characters are no where nere done yet except for Peach & Donkey Kong almost anyway here's my plans:

Accessorise all characters -

Mario - Dove ears, cloak, red wheels
                                           
Bowser - Do not know yet, will come up with something

Luigi - Nothing yet

Donkey Kong - Make him look more like DK, I'm gonna try and use Sprites from DK Games to do this... and I've taken his white top off and have given his nipples!

New Characters -

Koopa Troopa - Delete and insert one of the above characters or someone else (you can help me decide..)

Toad  - Delete and turn into a character, I'm in the process of turning him into Diddy Kong

Peach - Alter her into Daisy by giving her brown hair, Black shades, yellow dress and altered wheels

Yoshi - Not sure I might alter his colour or change him into Birdo...

Anyway watch out, this might not be done for a while yet coz I'm still learning and pretty useless overall but lets just see, who thinks it's a cool idea?? Anyway I'm just treating this as a small practice thingy nothing major!

Sorry to do two posts but I just wanted to bump this idea up a little, anyway I wanted 2 ask if there was a minimum acceptance when adding Rom patches, like I mean say if I hacked a game and changed the colour of all characters, would the site accept because it's quite mininmal in change/difference from the original?? Anyway I wanted to make a small update as I'm quite new (I know I keep on saying it..! ) I'ts all moving along a bit slowly I'm guessing when compared to you guys but in my opinion I'm doing some good graphics quite fast. Anyway I wanted to know if the site will accept this patch to Mario Kart (SNES) when I have added the following differences.

New Characters -

- Daisy & Diddy Kong (I've had to delete Toad and make a remodel of Diddy & I've altered Peach entirely with nifty black shades 'n' all). I've decided to keep it to that for now with new characters as it's takes a little while to insert a new remodeled character especially for a FRESH newbie like mwa...!

Additional - I've made/going to make the following changes to these characters:

DK - I'm also in the process of remodelling/altering DK's face and have taken his shirt off, given him pecks and am gonna try to give him two peck patches.
Mario - Going to add small white wings to hat, give him yellow cloak
Yoshi - Either give his skin a circled patch effect or change him to metal Yoshi
Luigi - Give him a square cheque on his clothing...maybe more
Koopa Troopa - Don't like him at all, gotta do something but not gonna focus on changing entirely for now!
Bowser - I think it'd be fun to try and turn him into a women Bowser! but I might do something else!

I'm also going to give all of the characters some nifty new coloured wheels with a cool grove/grip effect on them and maybe some other things.

Anyway will this patch get put on the site if I was only to do this the orignal game?? And here's some pics of it of so far:

Some look a bit patchy especially with the new Diddy but I should be done with all the details and colours for both Daisy & Diddy soon and then I'll start and the other characters I'll also post some ingame pics soon too!:

We don't carry incomplete hacks. Finish your hack and submit it then.

Daisy wears a yellow dress as far as I know... Yours is still pink.

I would also suggest remodeling Diddy... Not that I could draw any better, but it really doesn't look like him. Maybe borrow a Diddy sprite from another game he's in for reference.

Diddy looks like Curious George, and that's awesome.

I think your Diddy looks great, except for the front view[picture 4], which could use some work on the face. And I can't tell, does he have a shirt on?
