As a noob I am curious about what referance material a sane or decent ROM hacker uses. For organization puposes try to arange the material by skill level needed to understand it.

The only reference materials I keep around are 65816.txt and 6502.txt, and some SNES register references (y0shi's doc, sndoc230.zip.)

Cute response but I am a person that needs to be spoon fed the basic information before I can start learning everything else at the pace I learn everything else at.

GBA Tek, mIRC, Datacrystal.org, VBA, no$gba, VB6, and a hex editor

those are my weapons of choice Smiley

The only doc I use on a regular basis is the GBATEK, but occasionally I look at the official ARM reference documentation (mostly when working on my compiler).

I'm not hacking ROMs, but anyway... I use anomie's documents and the emulator sources for my work.

Not to sound trollish, but you might want to look into another hobby. ROM Hacking is something you're going to have to teach yourself. Sure, there's some resources that'll help you out along the way (hint: Getting Started), but you're ultimately going to be teaching yourself. If something doesn't click, no amount of spoon feeding is going to help.

The other point to consider is that nobody who knows anything worth teaching is going to waste they're time on someone who can't be bothered to do a little independent research and try to solve the problem themselves.

I can spoon feed myself. My problem was that I fell into an "I can't" mindset. Interdpth has the correct idea behind this topic. What programs you use and what sites you go to besides http://www.romhacking.net
