Greetings! I decided to come here after ACLCM (whtaever) was taking forver to get authorization to post rom hack questions. THis place seems better anyhow Smiley Much more information! Thanks for the site everyone!

On to business. Well i've been going through the "Getting Started" guide and got Tile layer pro - modified my rom according to the directions in the tutorial for Digisalt’s SNES PaletteTool.

I've extracted a palette from the tool but whenever I load it into Tile layer pro, it doesn't change the palette in anyway. Is it possible I missed something? I keep going back through the steps to no avail. Sad

Help!

Changing the palette in Tile Layer Pro (or any tile editor) does not change the palette of the rom you are editing. All it does is change colors so displaying tiles with the editor is easier.

At least, that's what I'm assuming your question is about. If you want to change a palette in the rom, you'll need to find it. Usually you can use debuggers and tracers to find this, but you may be able to find it using corruptors.

Thanks for the reply. No I understand that the palette i'm loading in TLP is just for that TLP instance and that the palette data is in the rom and i've not modified the rom.

My problem is I do the extraction from the palette extract tool, it creates a palette.tlp file. I load that file into TLP through Palette -> Load but the palette in the tool doesn't change in anyway.

So I'm unsure what I'm doing wrong. Does anyone have a tool that will decrypt a palette tlp file and display the palette external to the TLP tool?

Thanks again!

Hmm still no response..

Could it be a bad header on the rom perhaps? Can something like that affect the tool?

Get yy-chr, and import a palette from a ZSNES savestate.

Well, Gideon told me you could do that.

See my Mode7Ed thread in Personal Projects, it should be able to convert palettes.
