Result of hacking DQ6 for a few hours. This isn't a serious project, I just did it for practice.

Whoohoo, you changed 8 letters. What'd that take, 2, 3 minutes? I suppose you want a :cookie: This isn't a serious project, I just did it for practice. You should keep practicing, eventually you may get 26 letters displayed.

It's not a situation where you can just copy a font and paste into the editor. English uppercase font was already in there, so I had to create a lower case font myself. Add to the fact that I got a decent table built, which took a lot of relative searching. Thanks for atleast TRYING to insult me but in that attempt you only succeed in making yourself look dumb.

if anyone knows of a translator seriously interested in translating DQ6, let me know. the only hacking that remains is a few bugfixes and some menu expansion. Well, just for the record, I'd be willing to reprogram the game entirely if you want once the script is finished. Don't need any of the old tools ... shouldn't take me more than a month or two. Actually, Mr. Wise, the Dragon Quest 6 font is stored in a special way so I had to pretty much draw out the font by myself. Now modify the dialogue font. I promise it's a lot more fun :)

I'm not talking about that, I'm talking about the simple fact you just can't copy and paste the font in there. Trust me, I've tried many methods, you just can't copy and paste it in there. More so difficult to edit, rather than being stored any special way.

'course you can. I could have a new font on top of it in five minutes flat. Less, if I already had the new font stored in its own little binary somewhere nearby, ready for editing.

New font? WITHOUT modifying the way the game reads it? Not in this game. Like I said, it reads the tiles a special way.

I call this: A Garbled Mess AKA TSA Hackin'! Seriously though, once optomon and I figure out the data to arrange this stuff correctly, we're going to have a new map screen. SotN style? Looks like it'll be cool once it's assembled properly. What? Forget it you're not understanding this. The game reads the font a special way.

... No, it doesn't: I just copied and pasted that from DW1 and used YY-CHR's color swap feature to fix the color order. Edit: Ah, delete your post before I can finish replying. Real mature.

See this?Be grateful I'm not banning everyone involved in this. KEEP YOUR PETTY CRAP OFF THE SCREENSHOTS THREAD. And be grateful I didn't ban all of you. I don't give a flying fuck who is right or who is wrong. This isn't screenshots, it's pointless fighting, SO KEEP IT OUTSIDE OR ELSE NEXT TIME I WILL BAN EVERYONE FOR A WEEK.
