I'm creating a new thread, since this is a different topic.
According to this guide's 2nd method http://www.zophar.net/tech/files/thepsxdoc2.txt you should use CDRWin to extract the STR and XA files from a PSX CD the right way, selecting the first and last sectors and extracting them setting the Datatype to Data Mode2 Mixed(2336). If you could play the resulting files on PSMPlay, they would definitely work. Very well. I found the same on different tutorials and, having used CDRWin before, there's really no reason why it shouldn't work. However, I just found out the extracted files don't work at all. I can only read them with STRPlay, every other STR player gives me the "unsupported file format" message. When I try to import them with CDmage I get a message saying the file must be RIFF CDXA type. They only get flagged as File, not as Multimedia File, as they should. I really don't know what else to do. I even tried on different drives, even on a different PC, and the result is always the same. I don't think I'm doing anything wrong, but I guess I must be, because I don't this this is supposed to happen. Can anyone help me out, or maybe someone knows how to convert this files to RIFF CDXA, or which other programs can also perform sector extraction? Thanks.
