i got a tile editor called pixen for the mac OSX and i can not figure out how to access the image files in a rom, if any one uses this program or has a better program plz help.

and if you have any other rom hacking utility's for the mac plz direct me to them.

A ROM does not have "image files". It has graphic data stored inside of it.

Scroll down through the ROM until you find what you're looking for. You may have to switch bitplane modes to match the game you intend to hack if your tile editor doesn't auto-switch.

If you can't find anything, it's likely the graphics data is compressed, in which case you're pretty much screwed.

The only tile editor for the Mac that I know of is Tile Molester. Pixen can't open ROM files, it's only a sprite editor app.

Ah, that's right! Tile Molestor is a Java app, so it's platform-independent! Neat! ^_^

Yeah it's great that I can use it on my Mac, but I could really use a good tutorial on it. Wink
