If anyone knows how to romhack Gameboy Advance Roms and obtain Text-based data, I would be much obliged, as in particular I'm looking for raw Quote data from the game Guilty Gear X Advanced Edition, particularly the Tag-Team Battles.  The reason for this is because the data itself is so impossibly random I can almost never hope to find and list them all myself.

If you know someone who can do this, I'd be much obliged, as it's for my Guilty Gear Quote Translation Database: http://mimeblade.oddigytitanium.com/Guilty_Gear/Guilty_Gear_Quote_Project/Guilty_Gear_Quote_Database.txt

I know I kinda requested n00bishly.  And for that I apologize, at the very least does anyone know if there are utilities I can use to get text out of Guilty Gear X Advance Edition?

I'm sorry if nobody can answer my question.

I find myself remarking upon something.

Is it really important to state "romhack"? Wouldn't hack suffice?

Say that out loud. You feel funny, don't you?

This is romhacking....It's a hybrid word created to separate us from people who use hacking skills to do destructive things. If you would have been around for the past 10 years in the scene, saying romhack is just as natural.

It's worth sounding funny to try and distance ourselves from the bad stigma of the word 'hacking'. God.. every new person I ever show this site too is like 'OMG! You're a hacker?' ... Roll Eyes Ugh.. idiots.

Is there a more PC word for "romhacking"? Video game binary reverse engineering and modifying?

Wouldn't that be an opportunity to share with her what hacking means to you?

  • It would stamp out one instance of ignorance
  • It would bring the two of closer, as you invite your mother into a closer understanding of a hobby of yours

I don't think "being closer with your mom" is a goal many people strive for...unless his mom is VERY old...
