Just use SearchR3 for Windows. You can find it here on the site.

SearchR2 is DOS command line based. You don't know how to use a command line program. That's your problem with SearchR2 from your description.

Heh. It's called a command line program and you need to learn how to run them if you are going to do hacking. You can open up a command prompt in windows and go  to the directory and run it or you can create a batch file with the exe name and put "pause" on the next line. That will stop it from going away before you see it.

Create a new file in a text editor, toss in whatever DOS comands you need to do what you need to do, and rename the file from .txt to .bat.

Note that you need to tell Windows Explorer to display file extensions.

Or just use the "save as..." dialoge of the editor.

I am positive that searchr2 is not command-line based. I used it alot back when I was using Win98.
It doesn't appear to work on Windows XP, or DOSBox (I tested with v0.63).
I suggest WindHex.

Your right. That's what I meant to say. It was just plain DOS based. It didn't rely on the command line. Whatever. SearchR3 works fine and so does Windhex. Problem solved.

I'd say your best bet is WindHex. I never have gotten SR3 to work before either. If you're relative searching for Japanese text you could also try rsearch.
