Using the save state hacking technique I was successfully able to find the font in Kawa no Nushi Tsuri 2 for the SNES and now I'm at the point where I can make a table, and dump the text. But since I can't actually find the graphics for the font, however, I can't edit the font graphics, and start translating. So does this mean that the graphics are compressed, or is there some other way, other than viewing them in a tile editor, that I can find the graphics tiles?

the font starts at 0x30200 and ends at 0x370F0. it's in a 1bpp format.

Now one last question, what's the best way to create fonts for SNES games? Can't import an NES font, too small, tried resizing the NES font to the SNES font size, that just plain doesn't look good. Should I just take real fonts and import them into the game? Yes, I'm aware I'm asking a lot of questions however this is one of my first attempts to hack an SNES game.

Just search the utilities section for "font":
Pick a font conversion program and then a good looking font to swap to and convert it.
Hope this helps.
