Hello!  I am new at this place and ROM hacking, and I would like to ask a few questions regarding Super Mario Bros.

1.)  I know that Mario's Beauty Salon edits his color palette, but how do I load my ROM?
2.)  Are there any tools to edit the title screen?  I've seen a ROM Hack whose title screen has been manipulated Perfectly, and I know I just can't go and mess around in TLP, as these shapes are flipped and turned and what not to form the desired letter.
3.)  I've seen some graphical hacks of Super Mario Bros 2, and I wanted to make my own.  However, all the graphics are scrambled all over the place and can't find where each of the character sprites are located.  If anyone can help me locate the sprites, or even supply a better sprite manipulator, your help will be GREATLY appreciated.  Also, while you're at it, could you help me with the pallets in this game?  And how about a text editor?  If I need to do binary coding, I might as well as have someone else do it for me. Undecided\

That's all I have to ask.  Sorry for being so picky in my third question! Smiley

See ya!

1. Well it's pretty simple. You see the little box at the bottom of the program? You just type the path where your rom is located. For example:

C:\\Emulation\\NES Roms\\Super Mario Bros. (JU) [!].nes

2. I don't know which hack you are talking about, but they probably just changed the tiles with a tile editor, then rearanged the tiles with a hex editor. However if the sprites are moving around the screen, that would require assembly knowledge.

3. Yes most of the time sprites are scrambled up and you just have to figure out what is what. Most tile editors have tile arrangers so it's easier to see the whole sprite (but it's still time consuming).

For text you'll need to learn how to make tables and need to learn hex editing. I good place to start is here:

All the Super Mario Bros 1 editors are listed here. I haven't played with many of them, so I don't know what features each one has. As for Super Mario Bros 2 editors I think SMB2 Discombobulator is the only one.

1.)  Ok, and how do I know what the path is?  Would it work if I placed the ROM in a .zip file, open the file and copy and paste the link?  I tried that, but the ROM got corrupted.  Thank God I had an exact copy in reseve!
>  Never mind, I got it to Work!  Cheesy

2.)  Oh, yeah, heres the ROM:  http://tabmok99.mortalkombatonline.com/mkbros.html
>  Also, do you know how to do it?  If so, could you do it for me please?  Or at least tell someone you know who can do this stuff?

3.)  Yeah, I know that, but it looks like that, say, Peach's upper body is scrambled along with random enemy sprites.  I also noticed a Sprite of Mario sleeping.  Is that sprite used at all?  I know it is in the SNES version.

Well, they say you can't judge a book by its cover, so maybe I'll figure out what and where the sprites are.  Half the fun is finding out!

Well, Thanks!
