Sorry if this is a stupid question that's been ask 100s of times before, but I've just managed to get a PS2 emulator working at decent speed as my PS2 doesn't read DVD-Rs and ripped my Fire Pro Returns DVD to HD(yes I know there's a hack already, but I'm one of these anal people who prefers not to use stand "translations").

My problem is that none of the hex editors I have tried, including Hex Workshop, Winhex32 and XVI32 are capable of opening a 4gb file. Anyone know one that can?

Nobody hacks DVD images in a hex editor directly like that. You need to unpack the image into files.

You can use iso buster to unpack the files

Unpack the files, and edit them from there. You're not suppose to hack the whole image, but hack the files inside of the image, and then recompile them.

Ahh, becuase I loaded up SOTN into a hex editor to find level data, and it took 5 miniutes to even make the changes.

I did find some level data, BTW, and it looks compressed.  Didn't take me that long either.

How do you unpack files?

If it's *.iso format you can use Winrar.

CDMage is awesome.

I know about all those, but unfortunately CDMage only supports CDs(I used CDMage for my Fire Pro Z hack) and ISOBuster won't allow me to import files back.

While this isn't a big problem for me, it will be a big problem for anyone else wanting to use it(Believe it or not I got over 100 IMs from people needing me to take them by the hand through importing files into an ISO on CDMage when there were instructions in the readme) so I was just hoping to be able to hack the image then make a patch for that.

And? That's how it is done. You extract the image, hack it and then you have to put it back together into an image. Then you can make your patch.

That's another problem.

The ISO has false TOC data, and can only be either completely rebuilt from scratch(I have confirmed this works) or the ISO directly edited.

I just have low confidnce that the average user will be able to rebuild an ISO without feeling the need to IM or e-mail me saying it doesn't work after the whole CDMage farce with FPZ.

Your users won't have to deal with it. YOU hack the extracted files, THEY just use the patch on the iso. You can just make a patch by comparing the original iso and a rebuild one.

Hex editor for very large files: ThingyV, a special version modified by Vegetal Gibber of the original Thingy of Necrosaro(?), ThingyV let open and edit ISO files.

KaioShin, that is impossible as I mentioned, the disc has false TOC data and large gaps which cannot be included in a rebuilt ISO, as not only is file size different(a rebuilt ISO is 700mb, the original is over 4gb) so making a patch is impossible.

Thanks HexPlus, I'll grab that.
