In this thread we'll talk about emulator/plug-in suggestions and configuration issues. Furthermore please suggest all other tools you think we'll need here (with a description and why we need them of course). If we'll need to get custom tools for this game we'll upload them here as well.

To sum it up, everything utility and BM 00 related goes here.

I'll start by suggestion that our primary hacking tool will be PCSX 1.5 with Debugger. It runs the game perfectly while pSX has apparently emulation problems and epsxe is lacking a debugger.

I suggest the following plug-ins and can confirm that the game is working for me with this configuration:

Pete's D3D 1.74 ("Nice" Settings, there is a button for it)
Eternal SPU 1.41
N-Rage Input 0.95
P.E.Op.S. CDR Driver 1.4
SCPH1001.bin  (Another Bios will propably do the trick as well, but don't use the implemented HLE bios)

Get all the plug-ins here.

Do you think you could link to those plugins? I managed to find a site at one point, but it's not working anymore.

Honestly, I'd probably recommend a software rendering plugin (peops, for instance) at least when testing graphics modifications.  The D3D and OpenGL renderers are nice and all (and in the case of Pete's plugins, the OpenGL2 one is probably more compatible than the D3D one, although may be slower), but a software renderer will likely provide a much more accurate representation of how it will look on actual hardware.

You should try Agemo Debugger,It's a great debugger for translation.

Datex
Description: Dat file extractor/builder
Usage:
- Extraction: datex -e <input dat> <output folder>
- Insertion: datex -i <input folder> <output dat>
Notes: If you can't use it for some reason, it's probably because you don't have mfc dlls. Google can help.

Are you sure those are the best plugins we could be using? The graphics and sound are both really flickery and hurt my eyes. I had it working in pSX at one point and it wasn't flickering..

Make sure you're using the right bios. The HLE bios causes mad flickering.

Didn't get any flickering here with the SCPH1001 bios and running the OGL2 plugin in ePSXe... haven't tried other plugins or emulators yet, though.

Ah thank you! I had the right bios, but turns out I didn't have it selected. Roll Eyes

What is the video format used by BM 00 (I don't have the game)? I could post the video tools I used for adding subtitles to the lunar file.

A quick look at disc 1 has 21 STR files in the MOVIE directory... and another 18 on disc 2.

I haven't ran them through a viewer though to see if they're standard a format or anything yet though (I know some of the Final Fantasy games used a different format for thier STR movie files).
