Well, I've officially dropped SRW Alpha, but I'm going to give the other groups who are working on it tips. ROBOT.RAF= Attack names are compressed here. SNMSG.BIN = Map Script. PILOT.BIN = Pilot, and robot names. For names, you have 28 characters of space to reinsert. IGNORE the random crap after the names, it means nothing. I'll add more once I get home. Also, here are two progress movies: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdXBWmQSmGoPrologue stage fully translated. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2aUMUrNDDkSRW Alpha Stage 01 RR Route partially translated. Reason I'm dropping this is that I'm just tired of hearing about the other groups who are working on it. But yeah, it's dropped, discontinued, no longer being worked on, and will never be updated.

And here is some advice for you in all seriousness. I will cut you some slack because I know you're still a bit young. Work on your maturity a bit. Based on your last post in the other Super Robot Wars project, your attitude is less than ideal. And it's not cool to try to assert how great or talented you are onto others like that or compare yourself to other groups. I'm pretty sure that's part of the reason you are having such a hard time in this community.
Rather than lash out about other groups or complain about your translators etc.. Here's what you do. Get yourself a web page and do your project. If you don't have a translator, you don't need one. Do all the work anyway with dummy translations simply to show that you have all the issues worked out.
You can practically FINISH all the hacking work without the actual translations. Then you can come back and say Look at this, I finished all this work, here's a script if anybody wants to finish it up. Does that guarantee you'll get one? Absolutely not, but it will earn you respect and increase your chances and have less chance any translator would want to flake out on you.
You keep saying there wasn't much to do on the project, by simply by reading the list you rattled off, there are still MANY issues left for you resolve. Length of time working on project sometimes doesn't mean too much. How about letting your actions speak on why you are better than any of the other groups working on the game rather than trying assert your reasons like you did.
Honestly, I'm only trying to help you out. You'll probably gain a lot more respect from people by carrying yourself a bit differently. If you're one of those short tempered people which it seems you are, just let some things roll off. Don't take things too personally. A friendly attitude is what wins around here. If you look at how the most respected community members conduct themselves, you'll generally find(there are always exceptions) they're not quick to conflict, are generally friendly, let their actions speak louder than their words, and don't take things too personally. That's a recipe for some respect and ultimately some success with this hobby.

Not that I'm short tempered or anything. I'm just tired of working on it. Besides, I don't see the use in working on it, if someone else is already doing it.

Fine, then let those other 2 groups finish them. I'm dropping this. I've got other games like Fire Emblem I could be translating, rather than wasting my time with games someone else is translating. IMO, it isn't a waste of time to bring to an end your own project.

I'd also recommend accepting offers of help when you get them when it's obvious you could use them. Ignoring offers from translators is usually not a good way to go about getting a script translated, and ignoring hacking help and documentation from someone who's already done some work on the game is just silly. When people around here offer to help you it's not because we think you're stupid. We just recognize that you're struggling and are trying to get you pointed in the right direction.

You know.
You could use what little experience you got from hacking -this game- on something else.

Well, Suzaku, I didn't exactly IGNORE you, I remember replying to you're request. The whole reason I dropped it was because most translators just don't want to translate, if they know someone else is working on. If I can find someone who's willing to translate, I can restart the project, and get stuff done. If you still want to translate for this Suzaku, you can. Although, it's very big. And I don't ignore advice.

You never know, it's always possible that you might be able to do a better job than any of the other hackers currently working on the project. Have some optimism. If you could find a way for to work with froid_san that would be good too, because I've taken a look at his hack and he has accomplished a lot of things.

I'm not here to start an argument with you. I will say that you did not reply to my PM, you did not reply to my email, and you did not reply to (either of) my board posts. But I wasn't talking only about myself. Seriously, accept the criticism and let it make you better. All anybody is doing around here is trying to help you.

It might be better if THEY did it. They already have a willing translator, and we all know Gideon is better than me at this. Sure you'd have to wait longer for it to get done, but hey, I'm done with this this. Infact the only way I would ever revive this is if I could find a willing translator. But we all know hell hasn't frozen over yet.

Don't take this the wrong way, but it sounds like you're just looking for an excuse to quit. If you don't want to do it, fine, say so, but don't pull all of this "person X is better than me" and this mopey, eeyore attitude. Suzaku said he was interested but you failed to return any of his correspondence, so don't pull the "I don't have a translator" shit either. Useless drama hurts everyone.

He's working on Alpha Gaiden, not Alpha. >.> The two have a lot in common, from the point of view of the hacker. If you were to take a look at both ISO images, you'd soon see that what has been learned from one could probably be applied to the other. In fact, I believe Gideon has stated that his starting point for this project was tools which were developed for Alpha. In short, while he doesn't have Alpha listed as a project right now. it's eminently possible that he could begin working with it at some point after Alpha Gaiden is complete.

In all honesty, can you blame someone for not wanting to work on the same translation when it's so big?
