Rai, the reason I ask is because I don't see much sense in having two people do the same type of work for the same game. Go ahead if you want, but having two different people hack this game seems redundant and unnecessary. Besides, this project is mine and no one can take it from me!   Someone's a little afraid of competition. And there's nothing wrong with 2 people working on the same game. Once I get a translator, reinsertion will be speedy. |

...aside from somewhat wasted effort by one person or the other that could possibly be better spent working together on the project.  |

But you really gotta calm down man, you're taking this way to seriously. Could I get a translated script, then reinsertion would be fast. Already have the English font done, already have the English table done, all that's left is to actually get it translated. I might very well learn Japanese myself, because finding a translator is a hassle. |

I might very well learn Japanese myself, because finding a translator is a hassle. Or you can pay I remember a site(basic translation?) charging $20 per 400 characters( kanji or kana). |

Nah, besides, if I learned how to translate Japanese, I could go straight to translating the rom, once I have the text dumped, except for going through the process of finding a translator, which could take days, or weeks. |

Plus, learning it is a bitch without instruction, friends who know the language, or both. There's a whole lot more to translating it than learning the vocabulary and grammar. You have to be able to figure out the idea behind the expression then translate that idea into an English equivalent. Like King Mike said, you're talking about years of work before you'd be ready to tackle a real translation project. I'm not trying to discourage you or anything--I'm always happy that someone wants to learn Japanese--but you need to understand that it's a huge undertaking.

Just look at me. As long as everything is in the dictionary form, I can handle things just fine, but when they start slinging slang or contractions around, I start begging people for help.

I can already read all the Katakana, and Hiragana, and I seem to be going through the basics pretty quick. And I'm not learning it without instruction, I'm using an online site that offers online lessons. Might take years for most people, but I think I'll be able to get it down in a few monthes, maybe a year. I'm learning the basics pretty fast: わたしはライです I'm Rai. わたしのなまえはライです My name is Rai. あなたのなまえはライーさんですか Is your name Rai? あなたのなまえはライーさんです Your name is Rai. あなたのなまえはなんですか What is your name? ギターです It's a guitar. ギターですか Is it a guitar? ギターじゃないです It's not a guitar. わたしのギターです It's my guitar. わたしのギターでわありません It's not my guitar. |

Got the last one wrong. It's ではありません. (じゃない is less formal but means the exact same thing.) Otherwise, good job.
