And if you think reinserting text, and fixing pointers is easy, you really don't know what you're talking about. Fixing pointers and reinserting text is dufficult? Oh my... What you're going to do is set up the tracer to break when the game accesses the compressed data Forget about tracers for this stuff. There is something better called debugger.

[Fixing pointers and reinserting text is dufficult? Oh my... Yes, it actually IS, ass. Not everyones Mr. Master Hacker like you. And yes reinserting IS difficult, especially if rthe game uses a special code for spacing, where you have to reinsert that piece of code to EVERY LINE OF TEXT IN THE GAME. Plus, what if the text doesn't fit? You have to either legthen the text down, or figure out a way to hack the game so that the text fits. Bottom line, reinserting isn't just reinserting whatever your translator gives you, it's much more. ...
All of you, take a goddamn chill pill. You especially, Rai. Don't fucking take things fucking personally, jackass.
How can I not take it personally? This dude is trying to discourage people from joining this project, by making me look like I'm not doing anything for the project.

This is a translation people, not a gameplay hack. And decompressing is NOT changing the games code, last I checked. No decompressing is making an application(Which requires much programming knowledge), that extracts the files that are compressed into another file.

Adding brand new features for a decent translation (like vwf) is, or at least it was last time I checked. :O

But in order to do that I need the font files decompressed. Look if none of you want to help me because of your own stupid assumptions fine. Looks like I'll have to turn this into a one man project, take a year to learn all this stuff on how to write a decompresser, take another year on how to learn to decompress the movie format, find a translator, and take another year to learn how to compress them back together. Point is, I can't do every damn thing for this project, that's why I'm asking for people who can do what I can't. That's why professional video game teams have hundreds of people working on one game, because ONE PERSON can't do everything. If one person could code everything, make the FMVs, write the storyline, compose the music, and make the graphics, trust me, professional companies would hire that person in a jiffy, because they wouldn't have to waste a bunch of money hiring people.

Implementing a VWF is changing the code, not the graphics. You can create one even without having a brand new font.

I still need the font file. Take a debugger, dump ram and vram, and start looking for the lost temple. If you have for writing this stuff, then you have time for hacking, too.

The point is, I only asked for help decompressing, and recompressing stuff, I did NOT ask for help on changing the games code, because I can learn how to do that myself. Besides rom hacking is NOT my life. You guys seriously need to stop ASSUMING because so far all your assumptions have been WRONG. Uou ALSO assumed I wasn't going to do any work for this project, which is completely untrue, since I'll be: - Dumping the script. - Readjusting pointers. - Readjusting menu sizes if necessary. - Editing the font if necessary. - Reinserting the script. - Recompiling the ISO. - Testing the game. - Possibly hacking the voice files, since I:plan on finding people to dub the voices, to give it a professional feel. Wait, say nothing because I already know what you're thinking, "Is this dude trying ruin the game by adding dub voices?" "Dubbing the game with amateur voice actors? This dude is craZy" "Haha, Rai probably couldn't even recode the voices, even if he DID have good voice actors." To the people who don't like dubbing, too bad, to the people that do like dubbing but don't think the dubs will be good, don't worry, I know a site with VERY GOOD amateur voice actors, and for the people who don't think I could pull it off, screw you. The only reason I'm hesistant about dubbing, is that it'll probably make the patch file huge.

You could do that as well. If you can change the game's code, you can code a decompressor/compressor, too. By the way, are you sure this game uses some kind of compression?

Yep, the DPK files, simular to zip files, have files stored inside them. Not sure if the movies are compressed, or not, because really, they might just be in another format. I also haven't figured out a way to view the font files yet(which are in .rb and .mdb format, there's also a file called Rubi.dat). I think the PAC files, might also have files inside of them. All I've been able to discover about the video format is that it's apparently in some "VMDK" format, or something.

I think Gemini's point was that you might have to end up rewriting the game's code to make the text fit.

Yep, the DPK files, simular to zip files, have files stored inside them. Those are packages, not compressed files. Compressions are a complete different thing. ARGH! I think Gemini's point was that you might have to end up rewriting the game's code to make the text fit. You got that, man.
