So, I'm thinking about doing a complete from scratch Chrono Trigger hack. So, unlike CT Rebirth/Ressurection which was an add on to the game play, this will feature a new story and a new world. Here's a list of things I'm going to do, or ask some friends to do and stuff that will not be used in the game

Things that are not going to be in the hack: (so far)

Time Traveling
Epoch
Lavos

Reason for no Time Traveling/Epoch: This is an original game, The maps will be connected to each other so as to make a huge world map with different sections. The Epoch is a time machine and since this was ment to go into different time periods it wouldn't make since that you just jump from one area to another, in it.

Reason for no Lavos: Yeah, he's the CT final boss so there!

New Additions/Changes:

Redrawn Sprites
4 Playable Characters
A very large world using the different world maps that CT provides, connected by a cave system or forest to get to the next area.
Charcter that can uses both Swords and Katanas (if possible)
Changed Tech lists
Completely Original Story.
In-game loading, based on my ingame loading hack.
New Title screen
No naming screens
New character protraits.

As in the world's of River Song, "Spoilers!"

Read only if you like some spoilers. Do note that this is just a sample of what is to come!

Story:

The world of Matsumi, a world of peace, is now in danger of becoming a world of war and destruction. The year is 2871 C. A. and all seems peaceful. But an evil plot is unfolding between a major kingdom of the world. Little does it's citizens know what is happening with their kingdom, even some of the people that are on the inside knows nothing about it. Even the greatest warrior in the kingdom, David. What will become of this world of Matsumi? Will war and destruction prevail or will the world remain at peace?

Characters:

David - A mighty warrior from the kingdom of Alexia. He is said to be the strongest of the kingdom. He sets off on an adventure to bring the prince and princess of the Kingdom of Sunai (pronounced Soonai). Little does he know what the missions is really for. But he will find out soon enough.

Diana - The Princess from the kingdom of Sunai. She was told that she had to go on the journey to the Kingdom of Alexia with her brother, to help bring the bonds of the two kingdoms together. Little does she know what is going to happen next.

Eric - The brother of Diana, and is going along with her to help to strengthen the bonds of the two kingdoms.

Link - A female warrior that no one knows a little about... Except David.

Progress: .1% - Some music so far

Putting aside considerations of the weeks and months (or years) of work it would take to make this thing, may I point out that there are already numerous things called "Project D"?  If you are going to be writing about this extensively, you may want to select a more distinctive name.

Project D isn't the name of the game, it's just a place holder for the game. The game will be named when i come up with a good name for it.

Main post has been updated, keep watching it for more information and some bits about the story.

Not sure exactly how you'd do this in battle, as the sprites loaded are always the same. Maybe with a small ASM hack...?

Note to self: Work on Hi-Tech (my beta tech editor, which has some advantages over the old one at the moment).

No naming screens

Any reason why not?

I tl;dr'd the whole topic but it's generally a bad thing to ask for progress reports. Heck, some people threaten to slacken the pace when asked with regular progress reports. :/

Well currently i'm trying to get back in full swing in TF it's been nearly two years since i've worked with the program. So i'm doing small things right now so progress is slow.

What do you have planned for music? Do you have someone who knows how to throw custom SPC music into the game?

Progress: 0% - No work has been done, In thinking stages.

That is great that you plan on doing a Chrono Trigger Hack but I think you are suppose to have some sort of progress on it before creating a project page for it.
See rule #3:

"The project must be an established project and you must have something to show for it. We do not want any projects in the 'idea' or 'concept' phase. Only 'real' active projects."

I am sure there are a lot of people on here that have ideas for hacks but imagine what would happen to the projects page if it was filled up with ideas and not actual projects. Just thought I should point that out. Wink

Right. In theory it sounds great. I have come up with many ideas. Implementing them on the other hand is another story. But maybe we're asking the wrong questions here. How do you plan to do all of what you're talking about? Maybe be a little more specific. I'm not asking for screen shots here just maybe a basic game plan put together on how what you want to do will be a reality.

I'll have to see on some features, music seems to be ok, video coming later showcasing 2 songs that i have planned. the battle music will change.

while some other mp3 songs are in there, from earlier testing of CTmusic compainon.

check the first post in a few hours for the video.

There maybe another video too, show casing with CTmusic compaion to do voice acting, which will be used for ceartin events.

You realize that inserting music with CTmusic "compainon" is probably the most trivial task in the enormity of work you have ahead of you if you seek to implement all those ideas in your first post, right?

It's like showing off the fuzzy dice you'll hang from the rear-view mirror of the car you're going to build from scrap metal.

Well, finding music to fit is one thing, but inserting music is easy.

Also first post is updated, video is of CT testing the music.

As River song tells the Doctor alot, "Spoilers."

So no spoilers in this video of the game in progress. Cheesy
