Is there a SNES emu with a "PPU Viewer" option like the one on FCEUX?

I understand that the SNES doesn't quite work the same way, but I'm sure there must be a way to get something similar done. This is a great option to leech original fonts and graphic titles from the games.

So, any emu has such an option? I've only used SNES9X and ZSNES.

The only emu I've seen is Snemul (unsure of the spelling). But it's DOS and it hasn't been updated since about 1999.
The only other option for years has been to open ZSNES savestates in tile editors.

Maybe debug versions of bsnes have it, but I'm not sure.

BSNES would be the SNES equivalent to FCEUX. It has roughly the same feature set as FCEUX as far as debugging goes, and is the most accurate. You pay for these features with performance. Running full speed, I only get 78 FPS (snes9x gets me well over 120 FPS). Plenty of people get lower than 60 FPS.

As I understand it, debugging is not supported in the current Windows version. (I couldn't find a download on the site for any debugging Windows build.) I do have a copy of an older version for Windows.

Thanks guys.

I do have an older BSNES (.065) and it seems to have another version of the emulator with the debugger. I found the "PPU Viewer" equivalent now, thanks!

Here is version 077 with the debugger. I assume it will run on other computers but not sure since I built it for mine.

edit:I think I first linked the old linux version by mistake. Here is the windows version.

You may also want to try loading savestates into VSNES. It's not exactly real-time, but it probably provides at least as much information as BSNES's debugger, and possibly more, without the fluff of the actually debug assembly stuff.

Will try that, thanks!

Yeah, VSNES will get you an interface like FCEUXD's PPU Viewer, but like others said, opening savestates work too.  ZSNES savestates, at least--Snes9x compresses their savestates, I think.  I dunno about any other emulator.
