I'm trying to get my hands on every possible JRPG that has been translated into english that was not originally released in North America or EU. Even one's that are partially finished would be good. I just have a massive boner for PS1 JRPG  Shocked. I'm even starting a collection of physical copies, strategy guides included . I already have Tales of Phantasia, Persona 2 Innocent sin and Kings field.

Thanks I appreciate your input though it makes me look like an ass that did no searching lol. I know of this page, rather I was having a hard time believing that those are the only translations out there. Maybe I'm just hopeful and I should learn how to program translations myself. How easy would it be for someone with no programming education lol?

It always depends on the game. Some games you just need a Hex Editor and some patience, but a lot of the time that's not enough. Every game has its own challenges and problems. Learning the basics can be fun or frustrating. It just depends on what kind of person you are, you'll never know till you try.

Thanks Rolen, I know that's kind of a typical newbie question for a place like this and I guess I wasn't really thinking of that when I posted it. I do appreciate your answer though. I have recently gotten back into the idea of collecting PS1 RPGs and I would love to play the Japanese games, this has become a die hard passion for me. If I cannot learn Japanese (I plan to but that will take a while) then I can at least put some time into doing translations. I certainly would be interested to learn how to do this and I am a quick learner. If I learn now then maybe years after I learn Japanese I can help translate all these games. I would be honored to do such a thing as there are barely any PS1 translations, there should be more!

So I guess there are no hard to find links to PS1 RPGs I am missing?

There are actually a bunch of PSX RPG translations in progress, but they take a long time to translate. I believe the main reason is because of the amount of text present in them.

SRW Alpha
SRW F
SRW F Final
Tear Ring Saga
DQM 1 and 2
Soul Hackers
Little Princess

Give them a few years.

I think that u should try google too because many translations are hosted on the group site but not in RHDN.
Youtube is a good place too but many times let u at the point if the translation is really finished and where to be found.

If you know of translations not on the site, you should add them. They do not have to be hosted here to have an entry. See the 'No File' checkbox in the form.  Furthermore, you can even add entries for 'Announced' projects that have no patch release if you know of in progress translations. It's probably a disservice to others to knowingly not add material you know is not here.

Sorry Nightcrawler....they are too many and I am busy with my projects.
I am somebody that can read /speak many languages and I saw many translations on the net and I am not sure which one are in your database and which are not.

I don't know if it's a choice or a tendency but many translations are posted on a "central" site in the native language but not on a "central" site in another language.
I make an example: you have many translations of the Italian group "SadNES City Translations" but that is not all they have and you are missing big ones like Final Fantasy 7 PC and PSX to Italian but you will find it on the Italian counterpart RH.it. This even if there are many Italian people coming to this site and actually being member of that group.

I don't know if it's correct that I add somebody other translation to this site especially if I am not a member of that group.

If you want more translations in your site, I think u have to contact those groups yourself and ask them or try to make some deal with some other "central" translation sites (in other languages) and make a sort of newsletter between all "partner" sites" so that there will be all (other) language translation posted here and all new English translation posted here go to them too.

http://www.romhacking.it/?p=patches.php&lang=1 is an example with many Italian translations and more than half of them are not in RHDN.

RHDN is a public archive tool to use as you see fit. Your choice. I'm just making it clear the ability is there to remedy the situation. It always seems silly to me to see RHDN members take time to direct members to external sources for content that that RHDN can cover. It also helps all future people who would come with the same questions and you (indirect) are no longer here to answer with 'tribal knowledge'.  Smiley

As far as your concern over adding other's translation. I don't understand the issue. First, take a look at the readme. It will tell you if you can distribute the archive or not in most cases. If you can, great. Even if you can't, you don't need to add the file. You can create an entry without it so all will know of it's existence. I don't see an issue.

Interesting idea of a partnership with other central sites, by the way. Unfortunately, I doubt that will ever happen as my language skills are non existent outside of English. My only consolation in life is English happens to be a predominant language. I'd be much less scholarly and worldly versed otherwise.  Grin

The read me?? I downloaded many times patches and saved them to my hdd to be applied later but the most of the times I had to delete them because they not had the complete name of the game, not noted for what platform of the game will be applied or what version is needed to be applied to :p
I have to say that with newer patches it's less a problem but still have many.

I will create a threat in RHDN to locate the central site and the most active group in each language.
If they are not too many, I will send a mail to the webmasters to see if there is an interest on a partnership.

I can't live with only one language, I live in a country with 4 national languages LOL
